Shu Uemura Lacque Supreme Shimmers – Swatches and Review

Shu Uemura is launching a new range of Laque Supreme, now it’s with shimmers!

Shu Uemura often collaborates with artists for their launches, and this time, Shu Uemura collaborates with a well known Japanese lacquer ware brand, Yamada Heiando. Yamada’s work has been established since 1918 in Japan and has been used by Japan Imperial family. Heiando’s artwork is very detailed and now, Shu Atelier is collaborating with Yamada Heiando to developed lip lacquer with dimensional shimmer by combining scintillating gold and silver powders.

New lustrous shimmer gold and silver crystal pearls

The special thing to note about this launch is of course the shimmers contained in the tube. The shimmers are made of a careful selection of special ultra refined glass pearls which are known for their transparency and high luminosity.

I am a fan of shiny lipstick as usually it leaves my lip well hydrated. Shu Uemura Lacque Supreme Shimmers contains oil-in-water emulsion base formula to bring a fresh and smooth sensation upon application.

What I love most about the packaging is that the color is see through. In my big lipstick collection, sometimes it can be frustrating looking for a certain color when I have to open it one by one to find the color I am looking for.But it’s not the case with Shu Uemura Laque Supreme, I can see through the color from the packaging.

I was given three shades to try on, they are:

OR 02 S (golden orange)

PK 05 S (Pink Carats)

CR 03 S (Crystal Coral)

My impression:

It glides on very smoothly and it feels lightweight on my lip. It’s very hydrating and it does help to repair my lip. The color was not the most pigmented but it’s buildable. With two coats, the color looks lively on my lips. As for lasting power, it serves up to a decent hours, perhaps 2-3 hours if I’m not drinking too much water.

Shu Uemura Laque Supreme Shimmer is available islandwide and retailing at $42 each.

Let’s Welcome Shu Uemura Blanc:Chroma Brightening UV Cushion Foundation into the Cushion World!

Here we are at the end of February, and we have seen lots of exciting launches! And I’m sure there will be more and more exciting launches. Cushion foundation seems to be the in thing this season. Many brands(non Koreans) are now starting to launch a line of their cushion base, how exciting it is! 🙂

One of my favorite brand, Shu Uemura is launching Cushion foundation too. They place it under blanc:chroma range which is known to be the “brightening” range. Not only this will give a brightening make up effect, it will also give skin care benefits too such as targeting dark spots for anti-pigmentation effect and also UV protection SPF 50+.

Smart Cushion

One special thing to watch about Shu Uemura Blanc:Chroma is the cushion. I am pleasantly surprised when I first tried the cushion and it feels so soft, puffy and yet still blends perfectly. The puff is made of very soft hair that when you glide this puff into your skin, you’ll feel nothing but its softness. One special thing I experienced is that the puff helps to pick up a good amount of foundation so you don’t have to keep dabbing the puff to pick up more and more products. The soft flock helps to retain the foundation picked and hence I can keep dabbing all over my face and if I need more coverage, then I’ll re-dab the cushion and apply it all over my face.

The cushion is so special imo and I can go on and on saying how good the cushion is!

Coverage & Performance

I have tried this cushion a few times and I must say that the coverage it gives is one of the best out there. It covers my pores on my nose pretty well in a single coverage. It gives a satiny finish and I like the finish because with this, I don’t really need to powder my face. It also stays on my face for the whole day and it does not fade even when I had to stay outdoors for few hours without touch ups. I got to say that the staying power is good and it can even stand Singapore humid weather.

There are 6 shades available, and as for me, Shu Uemura sent me shade 774 light beige.

Light beige is the lightest shade among the “7” shade which leans more towards yellow, and if you wish to purchase shades with pink skin tone, then go for shade “5” group.

I did a swatch on the cushion on the back of my hand as below,

And as a comparison, I dug out my Shu Uemura shades to give some idea on how the shade compare to the other Shu Uemura foundation. I have Face Architect foundation in the same shade “Light Beige” and they look very similar when compared side to side. Hence I would safely say that the shade for the cushion is similar to other Shu Uemura foundation.

There are so many cushions launches these days and it may be hard for us to choose. As for Shu Uemura UV Cushion Foundation, I would safely say that this cushion is a good pick if you want cushion with higher coverage. It’s definitely not as sheer as many other foundations, and it stays for a long hour even without setting powder (fyi I have dry skin). Other than the better coverage, I must mention that the sponge is one of the best out there. It’s very soft and it’s taking the right amount of product to be applied and it can glides nicely on my face.

In the picture below, I applied my face with skincare and Kiehl’s Ultra Light UV Defense. You can see my pores and uneven skin tone there, and after I applied a layer of Shu Uemura CC Cushion, you can see it looks better.

Shu Uemura Blanc:chroma brightening UV cushion foundation will be available islandwide from 15th March 2016

$55 for refill, $20 for case + puff.

Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune for Holiday 2015

You know we are nearing to the end of the year when beauty brands have started releasing the holiday collections. One of the brands that always catches my attention is Shu Uemura; every holiday seasons, Shu Uemura never fails to surprise me with the exciting collaboration. This year they have made another exciting collaboration with French designer Maison Kitsune.

The collection gives me a fresh spring vibes rather than Christmas’ party vibes. It’s interesting to see a brand releasing something rather unusual compared to other brands in the market. In this collection I am looking at lovely combination between pastel shades and deeper shades, and nothing too bold for me to wear.

In this blogpost, I have the Beauty Remix Smokey Eye & Cheek Palette in Plum.

A fun palette to play around and create an unusual smokey eyes. The palette has a mixture of plummy shade and orange-y shades. The colors are fun to create a young energetic look! In general, the shades has good texture especially the pearl texture. I found some fallouts especially on the glittery shades though, so I try to be more careful when applying the glittery shades.

The blush is a major surprise for me! It looks rather scary in the pan (screams: ORANGE!) but surprisingly it looks very wearable on my cheek. It looks peachy on my cheek and can also be worn as a contour cum blush to me.

Now onto the Drawing Pencil, here I have the plum and indigo. I love the color payoff of these two and how these are able to last on my lash line for a good 6 hours without smudging! The special Maison Kitsune design on the pencil is adorable too, I love the golden stamps details there.

The Laque Sparkler is one of the winner in this collection! I love how beautiful the color is and how opaque the color is on my lip. It takes me about two layers to get full opacity on my lip. Here I have the shade Plum Shimmer – a deep pink that leans towards red. It’s non drying on my lips and I like that I don’t need to retouch the color even after plenty glasses of water. It stains on my lip for a while, so at the end of the day I would clean my lip with lip make up remover.

a Shu Uemura collection wouldn’t be complete without the cleansing oil. In Maison Kitsune x Shu Uemura collection, the clensing oil released is from the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil. By far this is my favorite cleansing oil! I’ve been using this range for a few years and Ultime8 range still secures a top spot in my heart. The oil is rich and it’s ultra moisturising, my skin feels well hydrated after my cleansing regime with Ultime8 range.

I have created a look using the Beauty Remix Palette in Plum and I am wearing Laque Sparkler in Plum Shimmer below

The collections is now widely available in all Shu Uemura boutiques and counter in Singapore

Get your Perfect Brow with Shu Uemura 3D Brow Styling

Hi Hello everybody!! It’s been a long time since I posted something here. I am so glad that finally I have some time to spare to update my blog and to share some of my beauty product related experience.

Recently Shu Uemura is re-promoting their Brow Styling Service. I was invited to try the service and to share what was the experience like. In this post, I am going to share some of Shu Uemura’s brow products and how I feel about Shu Uemura’s 3D Brow Styling service. So let’s start!!

Shu Uemura has quite a range of brow styling products and you will find these products applied while having your 3D Brow Session. The most popular product would be the brow pencil but hey, there are so much more to explore!

Shu Uemura believes that 3D eyebrow look can be achieved in 3 steps; it is by SHADE, DRAW and to COLOR your brow.

The first step is to recreate the shadow on your brow. This can be done using Shu Uemura Brow:ink. My eyebrow is naturally quite thin and light in shade. Brow:Ink is a real life safer when it comes to creating thicker looking brow and helping the color to stay longer! I use this almost daily as my brow base shade and with this, my eyebrow shade will last the whole day (read: 12 hours). Brow:Ink is retailing at $42 and is available in 4 shades.

I draw my eyebrow every single day whenever I am out of my house. A well defined brow gives me confidence although I don’t apply much make up on my face. Shu Uemura is famous with the hard formula brow pencil and I have been using it since many years ago. Although I use it interchangeably with few other brow pencils, it still remains as one of those brow pencils that I would repurchase.

Recently Shu Uemura releases a new version of the brow pencil, it’s called Brow:Sword. The hard formula will still be available though. Brow:Sword has a smooth texture and the the pigmentation of the product is better than the hard formula. The pre-set sharpener is also very helpful for us to resharpen the pencil without having to go down to Shu Uemura counter and having it sharpened there. I love Shu Uemura’s hard formula brow pencil but for the sake of convenience, Brow:Sword has been a very helpful item on my stash because of the pre-set sharpener. Another thing I’d like to mention here is that Brow:Sword is refillable! The refill is affordably priced at $28 and is available in 5 colors.

Below is the picture of Brow:Sword.

The last step of the 3D Brow Styling is to color. To achieve the natural brow look, Eyebrow Manicure is there to color our brow hair to mimic the color of our hair color.

3D Brow Styling Service

Shu Uemura believes that different brow style brings different power to express different human impression, and thus they are promoting 4 eyebrow styles. Most of the time, I would ask for natural style brow, but given these few styles to choose from, I went for Glamorous instead.

BeFunky Collage

I did my 3D Brow Styling recently in Isetan Scotts. I chose “Glamorous Style”. Glamorous Style gives a more defined eyebrow shape and when I draw a darker shade on my brow, it gives a more masculine look.

The brow service started with tweezing according to the brow style we requested. After the brow has been nicely shaped, the SA will nicely share with me on each products they use. Firstly is to shade using Brow:Ink. To create a thicker looking brow, Brow:Ink is certainly helpful to be used as the base color. It will help the brow color to last longer. Secondly, the SA would help me to draw my eyebrow to enhance the glamorous style I have chosen. Lastly is to shade my brow with eyebrow manicure, it gives a lovely finishing touch to my brow and making it look more natural.

Overall I am very happy with the service delivered by Shu Uemura brow styling specialist. They’re profesional specialist and they understand what I want for my brow. They are also very detail oriented in their work. One of the main plus point is that Shu Uemura has lots of counters islandwide and I can choose the outlet based on my convenience. The price point is also very affordable for a brow styling service.

Another thing I’d like to add here is that I don’t have to be exposed with “hard selling service” which I experienced in some other places before. I like the efficient service provided by Shu Uemura – I went down and get my brows done, that’s all. I don’t have to spend more time with the SA trying to sell me packages or future services. In this way, I feel more at ease and respected as a customer.

Shu Uemura 3D Brow Styling is available at Shu Uemura Counter Islandwide and it’s priced at $12 (for Shu Uemura members) and $15 for non member
