During my trip to Taiwan, I bought few items from Jill Stuart. I bought the blush from their summer collection Lantana Honey , 3 eye jellies and few nail polishes. In my post on Lantana Honey, I have shown you my love on Jill Stuart products. I have to say once again that their packaging is gorgeous. In my opinion when you are buying expensive product, firstly you need to make sure that the quality is compromised. Other than that you really need to look at the packaging too. If a packaging of a product is way too normal and yet I need to pay such a hefty price, I don’t think I would get the product. Jill Stuart’s products quality are mainly good and their packaging is fantastic. I have no regret buying their products. In the past I have also reviewed Jill Stuart Eye Jelly in Antique Chiffon #13, you may read the post here
I bought 3 eye jellies during my trip; Midnight Shine #09, Crystal Sky #08, Frosty Candy #11. Firstly, I’m going to review Midnight Shine:
Midnight Shine is a dark purple shimmer with a hint of black and blue. I fell in love with is the first time I swatch it on my arm, the dazzling shimmer makes me love it even more. According to the SA at Jill Stuart SOGO Taipei, this color is their best selling color. It’s great as it doesn’t look frosty on the eye. This color is recommended for a night look.
Crystal Sky
At first this color didn’t look appealing to me. I was hesitant to get this as the color looks bold enough. I wasn’t sure whether this color would be great as a base or as a crease color. Then the SA told me this color would look good as a base and then I can put a lighter color on my inner corner and put a darker color on my crease. I agreed and finally I bought this. I would describe this as a purple color with a hint of taupe and pink. I have never tried this on my eyes yet but hopefully soon enough I’ll do an FOTD with this.
Frosty Candy
I swatched this together with Midnight Shine and I was sure to get this too. The pink shimmer looks too good to be passed on. When I looked at the swatch, I am sure this would be a good pair to my taupe and dark brown eye shadow. Moreover when I read “frosty candy” on the label, somehow this eyeshadow reminds me of a pink cotton candy. Well I am not a big fan of cotton candy, but I love starring at the cute pink color on cotton candy.
In the pictures below, I swatch the colors both under the sunlight and indoor light.
sunlight
I prefer to see the color in indoor lights. They doesn’t look frosty in indoor lights. Whereas in direct sunlight, Crystal Sky and Frosty Candy look a bit frosty. I think I need to be careful when applying these colors on the afternoon. I should make sure that I don’t apply too much of this otherwise it will look frosty.
Final thought:
From these 3 eye jellies, Midnight Shine is my absolute favorite. It’s gorgeous and would look great even if it’s applied by itself. Frosty candy is a good base color for a neutral eye look. Crystal Candy is a good-to-have eye shadow. It’s not bad but good enough; if you’re a Jill Stuart fan, go and get it.
