Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons in 3 Naturel – Brunettes

IMG_5117

This summer, Guerlain release a new range of Guerlain Terracotta 4 seasons bronzers in 4 new shades. I believe most people is astounded with the beauty of 00 Nude. However it’s a pity that I couldn’t find this shade in Changi Aiport while I was travelling so I went with 03 Naturel instead.

The Packaging:

Guerlain 4 seasons bronzer comes with a sleek brown velvety pouch. The packaging comes in a heavy metal & glass casing in dark brown. There’s a large G logo printed in the front of the glass casing. I just love the look of this luxurious bronzer.

The Shade & Texture:

What I love about this bronzer is that every bronzer shade comes with 4 shades inside; two darker shades and two lighter shades. It gives me a choice to go for a heavier contouring or just a light one. The shade 03 Naturel Brunettes is darker compared to 00 nude and 02 Naturel Blondes, but it shows up on me nicely.

This bronzer has a nice refreshing scent too. It has a different scent compared to Guerlain Emillio Pucci Terra Azzura and Burberry Blushes. The scent is somewhat citrus-y and now powdery.

Onto the texture, I think Guerlain never fails to impress me especially on their bronzer texture. The texture is really finely milled, soft and nice to touch. The pigmentation of this bronzer is just nice; not way too pigmented so that it wouldn’t be too much when applied. The shade doesn’t really shows when you swatch it on your arm, but upon application on your face, you’ll see the shade pops nicely without being too much.

Swatches:

The swatches in these pictures were taken on indirect and direct sunlight. I applied 2-3 times for each color to show up. However when it’s applied on my face, I swiped once or twice in order to have the color shows.

Final Thought:

Guerlain Terracotta 4 Seasons in 3 Naturel – Brunettes is currently my new favorite bronzer. The texture, shade and packaging impress me and I have no complains about this product at all. It’s a must have if you have never tried Guerlain bronzers before :)

Have you tried Guerlain Terracotta bronzer? What’s your fave bronzer?

Guerlain Sakura Blush – Cherry Blossom Blush

I have another blush to show you today. I bought this during my trip to Hongkong two weeks ago. I am not sure whether this blush is already available in Singapore but according to Ruby’s  blog, this blush is available in Changi Airport DFS retailing at $75.50. I bought this in Hongkong at HKD460 . The price in Hongkong and Changi airport is about the same.

I have a soft spot for beautiful blush. When I saw this blush for the first time, it certainly reminds me of Les Tendres de Chanel in Les Roses and Blush Horizon de Chanel. I love gradient blush and only by looking at its pretty look, I feel happy (That’s how shallow I am LOL :p) I really can’t resist this pretty looking blush and let’s go onto the review :)

The Packaging:

The casing of this blush is in white color and it comes with a white velvety pouch. When you open the case, you can see how pretty the blush is. There’s a G logo embossed on the blush and you can see that “Guerlain” logo in the silver metal outer casing. This blush also comes with with a pink brush. This pink brush is placed under the blush. So this blush casing has two layers; the top one for the blush and the bottom layer for the brush. Although the brush is cute but it’s not as soft as my current blush brush so I don’t think I will use it as much.

The Texture & Color:

Guerlain Cherry Blossom Blush has 4 different shades. The top layer is a golden & pink shimmer (yes it’s a high pink & golden shimmer although it doesn’t look too shimmery in the pan). The second layer is a frosty sheer white shade. The third layer is a bubblegum pink with less shimmer and it’s the most pigmented among the 4 shades. The bottom shade is another shimmery pink. When swatched, the shade looks similar with the shade at the top layer but this one leans more onto pink rather than golden.

The texture is rather dry. I am surprised that the quality is not as good as what I expect it to be. The blush contains heavy shimmer and the color isn’t that pigmented. On the pan, the color looks very promising but when swatched, it’s actually quite sheer and the color does not show up as what I have expected. If you are a frequent reader of Memoiselle, you’d know that I am a lover for everything that contains shimmer. But for this one, I have to say that I dislike the heavy shimmer. It looks way too shimmery for my liking and the pink color does not balance the heavy shimmer.

Final Thought:

Guerlain has made another great looking blush. However as much as I would love to like this product, I just can’t. The texture is dry and the color is just meh. I am actually thinking to pair this with a pigmented matte blush and use it more as a cheek highlighter. In that way, I won’t be wasting too much product.

I hope this review helps :) Have you had the same experience with a product that you expect to work well but turned out to be a disappointment? Share with me in the comment box.

In love with Khaki Shades? Guerlain Coup de Foudre might be your choice!

Hi all,

Guerlain has released its spring collection and one of the eyeshadow quad caught my attention.  The colors look so lively but yet still wearable. Lately I have been drawn into khaki greens and I thought Coup de Foudre would be a good addition to my collection. One thing that always stops me from buying Guerlain is the hefty price tag, but last week I picked this in the airport so this costs less to me. I paid for S$75 for this.

The Packaging:

Coup de Foudre has the same packaging as other Guerlain Quads. It’s in a hefty golden case that’s reflective. The packaging is so luxurious and it comes with velvet pouch too.

The Color & Texture:

Coup de Foudre has a very nice color combination. Who would have thought you can combine coral with khaki eyeshadow? Only Guerlain does it right! :) There are 4 colors in this palette; a khaki green mixed with silver and has a metallic finish, a coral with a hint of pink with a metallic finish too, There’s also a frosty green and lastly a grey with a hint of deep green.

The texture of this palette is excellent! It’s very smooth, buttery and glides on nicely on my arms when I swatch it. The pigmentation is satisfying, the color shows up nicely on the first swipe. I don’t experience any fallout when I swatch the eyeshadow. What I love most from this quad is the metallic finish look which looked different with other brands metallic finish. For me, Coup de Foudre swatch has a very nice finish that looks expensive.

Final Thought:

Guerlain has once again come out with an excellent eyeshadow for spring! The textures glides on beautifully and blends nicely! What more can I say? I love it! :)

Tom Ford Blush in Flush

I am so excited that Tom Ford is opening its counter in Tangs Orchard!

I am such a blush addicts that everytime I heard people are raving about a brand, I need to try the blush. I have read many positive review about the quality of this blush. I bought Tom Ford blush in Flush from Tangs Orchard when they are having 12% rebate for the cardmembers. This blush is retailing for SGD 85. It’s a very expensive blush for me and I am expecting a very high quality product for the price I have paid.

Firstly I’d like to talk about the packaging. It’s made of gold metal casing that feels quite heavy. There’s a velvet pouch given for every blush. There’s a “Tom Ford” logo embossed at the front of the blush. Call me superficial but this kind of luxurious packaging always call my name and I always fall into temptation on getting this blush. There is no small brush or applicator included in this blush.

Flush is a peachy coral blush with fine shimmers. The texture is very soft, pigmented and it blends beautifully on my skin. The moment I touched this on the counter, I can feel that the formula is awesome. It is so pigmented that you only need to dab your brush once (or twice) lightly and gently pat it on your face. You can always build up the color if you think the color does not pop enough.

In the swatch below, you can see how pigmented the blush is. On the left is one swipe of the blush, and on the right side is one swipe of the blush and blended.

I have swatched some blushes that might look similar.

I would say that there’s no exact dupe to Tom Ford Flush. The closest would be Nars Deep Throat, but Nars seems to be sheerer than Tom Ford flush. I have reviewed all the blushes swatched above except Nars Deep Throat. You can find the review for the blushes here:

Chanel Blush de Horizon

Nars Orgasm

Illamasqua Hussy

Bobby Brown Peony

I have created a look with Tom Ford flush:

The products used in this look:

Guerlain Terra Azzura by Emillio Pucci, YSL Lip Stain no 7, Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill no 25, Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black, Shu Uemura eyebrow pencil

Final Thought:

Tom Ford blush delivers what I have expected from a high end blush. The texture are not disappointing; blends very nice, the pigmentation is superb and the packaging looks luxurious. The only downside I see is the price. Tom Ford products are very expensive but that might be the reason why people are lemming about it too ;)

Have you ever tried any Tom Ford blushes/ products before? Tell me what you think :)

Guerlain Summer 2012 by Emillio Pucci – Terra Azzura and Le Vernis in 01 Paradisio Swatch & Review

Hello,

I know summer has been over and we are already seeing lots of Christmas collection product. However I bought these products during Luxasia Beauty Bazaar last week. I am so glad that I found these during the sale. These products were on my lemming list but because of the hefty price tag I did not get it.  I am glad I paid SGD 50 for the Terra Azzura and SGD 12 for Paradisio.

Such a pretty sight to see! The packaging is so luxe. I love the wooden case with “Guerlain by Emillio Pucci” engraved in it. It’s a hefty casing which showcase the elegance of this product. There’s an Emillio Pucci pouch provided too. I love Emillio Pucci’s printed design. They are gorgeous! :)

However there’s one thing which I dislike from the packaging. The packaging is only aligned with three mini magnetic button. I think this is a little bit unsecured and prone to scratches. I would much prefer the casing are connected with the usual button.

The bronzer is quite sheer. In my opinion, this would look great for fair skin tone. On deeper skintone, this might not show up very well. The texture is nicely done. It blends easily and it creates a natural looking sculpted face.

I did a simple contouring with this bronzer. I am a beginner in contouring, so pardon me if it doesn’t look right LOL. I am also using the blush on top of the bronzer.

Paradisio is a coral red creme nail polish. The color is not unique at all, it’s certainly easy to find the dupe for the color. The formula of this polish is okay. It’s not extraordinary as it leans towards thick formula. It looks uneven on the first coat but it looks opaque on the 2nd coat. I apologize that the swatch does not look good, I took the picture after 3 days of wearing this polish. Hence it has shrunk a bit.

I also has swatched Guerlain Summer 2012 Nail polish in 02 Riviera. You can see the swatch here .

Final Thought:

Terra Azzura has a very nice texture. It blends wonderfully and I foresee that I will be using this as a bronzer a lot. Paradisio is not disappointing but not excites me as well. It’s a nice nail polish but it doesn’t have any “oomph” factor.
