image (2)

Hello everyone!

It’s my first “What is in My Current Make Up Bag?” post ever. I am so excited to write this post as these products are the ones I use regularly for my touch ups. I hope I would be able to post this regularly once every 2 months or so. So here are the products I currently have on my make up bag:

  • NARS Fairy’s Kiss Palette: This is the palette that I currently have on my make up bag. It has 6 versatile shades to be used for my day/night look. I did a review of this palette on my previous post. You may read the review HERE
  • Chanel Compact Mirror which I received from a friend. I am really glad that she gave me this mirror, I love how beautiful the red color is.
  • Urban Decay Naked FLUSHED palette: This is a genius palette which I love a lot. It is a complete three in one palette consisting of bronzer, blush and highlighter. The shade can be used nicely on people with either dark or light skin tone. I have done a detailed review HERE
  • YSL Touche Eclat: This is a must have product on my make up pouch. I use this product to highlight my browbone and as a corrector. Believe it or not, I have never changed this product from my make up bag for more than a year as I find this product is very useful as a touch up tool.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte powder: This is a relatively new product that I tried recently. So far this powder has works pretty well on me. It helps to control the oil in my T-zone area. I must admit that this powder is not the best powder I’ve tried but considering the price I paid, I am happy to repurchase this again.
  • Maybelline Rocket Mascara: This mascara is my current favorite mascara. It helps to lengthen my eyelash and at the same time it makes my lashes looks thicker. I have a short and rather droopy mascara and there are only few mascara that works for me. Maybelline Rocket mascara stays for the whole day for me without smudging. Moreover, cleaning this mascara is so easy! Warm water is all you need to clean all the mascara on the lashes.
  • Chanel Retractable Kabuki Brush: I love the softness of this brush. The hair are dense and this brush can be used as a blush brush, bronzer brush and even powder brush. It’s a perfect brush to be kept in my make up pouch. I have reviewed the product previously, you may read it HERE
  • YSL Glossy Stain in 101 Reckless Pink: What I love about YSL Glossy stain is the texture. The shade stays on for a long time (4-5 hours at least) and the I love the shine this lipstain has. I specially love shade “reckless pink” as it looks natural on my lip but the shine it has adds something more to my look. I have reviewed & swatched YSL Glossy Stain Rebel Nudes on one of my blogpost HERE
  • Chanel Rouge Allure in 88 Evanescente: This is a natural pinkish nude lipstick. I always rotate my nude lipstick shade every two weeks or every month. This is to make sure that all my nude lipsticks are well loved :p
  • Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner: hands down! This has got to be my all time fave liquid eyeliner. It has never fail to stay on my lid for the whole day without smudging. The brush size is nicely designed; it’s not too long and not too pointy, the size is just nice to apply line along my lash line. This eyeliner retails at SGD 20-25 (I can’t remember the exact price) at major drugstore in Singapore.
  • Last but not least, is a Chloe perfume miniature. This is one of my fave perfume and it’s always a pleasure to add a bit of smell after a long day at work.

Wah I just realized that I have quite a lot of things on my make up pouch ;) Some of my friends have commented that I have so many things on my make up bag; however I enjoy bringing these make up on my bag. It’s a pleasure to do a touch up during lunch break or after work before dinner.

I’ll try to rotate the products in my make up bag and I hope that I’ll be able to write on this topic on a regular basis :)

Share with me on what you have on your make up bag, please :)

Thank you for reading!

My First Empties Post

Hello all,

This post is my first post on my emptied products. I’ve been reading many beauty blogs who have featured their emptied products and I love reading their short review of each products. So after a while, I decided to write a short review on each products I have finished. I’ll try to do this post once in one or two months so that I’ll have enough number of products to talk about :)

1. The Body Shop Body Butter Duo Macadamia

If you love macadamia, this is for you! It smells amazing; it makes me feel like drinking a cup of hazelnut latte :) What I love about this body buter duo is that it contains two texture of products. It has body lotion and body butter inside this tube. Usually I’d apply the body lotion in the morning and the body butter in the evening. Both lotion and the body butter are very moisturizing. The only downside of this body butter is that it can feel very sticky. Whenever I use this body butter, I always make sure that I’ll be sleeping in my long pyjamas because I don’t want my bedsheet to smell macadamia :p.

Will I repurchase this again: Yes but I’d try a different scent.

2. Bio Oi

I have reviewed this product earlier. You can read it here.

Will I repurchase this again: Maybe.

3. Ma Chérie Hair Oil

I am currently in love with oils! I love face oils, hair oils, body oils, you name it :D Ma Chérie is a product launched in Japan and it’s part of Shiseido group. I love the smell of Ma Chérie products; it has fruity scent and it makes me feel girly. This hair oil moisturizes my hair well and it doesn’t make my hair feel sticky. I also love the look of its super cute packaging. It’s retailing at about $20 per bottle in Singapore.

Will I repurchase this again: Maybe

4. Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy

I know I have not reviewed anything from Crabtree & Evelyn but I am actually loving this brand to the max! I just love the design of Crabtree & Evelyn brand; it looks classy and it reminds me of the classic English look. Crabtree & Evelyn Rosewater Hand Therapy (100ml) is very convenient to be put on my daily make up bag. The rose scent is nice and it’s not over pouring. It’s also non sticky so it’s good to be used anytime of the day.

Will I repurchase this again: Definitely

5. NARS Light Reflecting Powder

I have reviewed this product before, you can read it here. This is by far my favorite finishing/touch up powder. It has oil control ability; my face doesn’t feel oily even after 10 hours without touch up. It makes my skin looks glowy but doesn’t leave white cast when photographed. I finished this powder after 3 months of usage.

Will I repurchase this again: Definitely

L’Oreal Extraordinaire Hair Oil

Hello all,

Today I’m going to introduce a new hair product from L’Oreal Paris. The brand has recently launched L’Oreal Extraordinaire Hair Oil islandwide in Singapore. I am a big fan of L’Oreal hair products. The products work well on me and the price is affordable compared to some other brands.

So what makes L’Oreal Extraordinaire Hair Oil different with other hair oil?

The Extraordinary Oil- the ultimate solution to perfect hair that is Richly Nourished and Intensely Protected from damage while providing Brilliant Shine, Sumptuous Smoothness, and an Ultra-Lightweight, Non-greasy Finish.

Aren’t hair oils heavy and greasy?

Not if we are talking about an exquisitely formulated product like The Extraordinary Oil. We have designed it to suit all hair types, and created it using the most lavish oils of six flower extracts – Flax, Tiare, Rose, Lotus, Chamomile and Marticaria. This potent combination of precious oils is realized into a transversal, ultra-caring formula that nourishes and protects hair for a silky, shiny finish that is soft to the touch and light as air.

If you need more convincing, let’s take a leaf from communities of women in India and South Asia who have been harnessing the power of hair oils for generations – a beauty ritual passed on from grandmother to mother to daughter.

The Fragility of Hair Fibers

Hair fibers are normally coated with natural oil. But even at its best, normal hair needs to be properly nourished because of constant exposure to harsh conditions – washing, UV rays, dry air, pollutants, heated styling tools and chemicals. As time wears on, hair becomes dry, dull, limp and prone to damage, breakage and hair fall.

Anyone can indulge in The Extraordinary Oil

Whether you have dry, frizzy, curly, straight or thin hair, you will enjoy our infinitely indulgent and unbelievably lightweight Extraordinary Oil. Because it’s so light-weight, we suggest to start with two to three pumps per application, and to layer on as needed.

The Extraordinary Oil can be applied at multiple steps of the hair care process:

  • Before shampoo and conditioning: Apply 10 minutes before washing to restore, richly nourish and prep hair for shampooing and conditioning
  • Before blow drying on towel-dried hair: To intensely protect hair from damage before styling
  • Throughout the day: As a finishing touch that leaves hair with a glowing shine and sumptuous smoothness without weighing it down

Retailing at $23.90 for 100ml of product. Retails in supermarkets, pharmacies, and departmental stores island-wide starting April 2013.

The above information is extracted from L’Oreal Extraordinaire Hair Oil press kit

IMG_5148Review:

When I first saw the packaging of this hair oil, I must say that I’m intrigued to try this product. The bottle is made of glass which feels heavy and looks beautiful. The product is beautifully packaged for such affordable product.

The hair oil feels lightweight; It doesn’t make my hair feel oily or greasy at all. In fact, I love to touch my hair as it feels soft throughout the day. I usually use 2-3 pumps after I wash my hair in the morning and I apply it at the end of my hair. L’Oreal Extraordinaire hair oil helps my hair to feel lighter the whole day. The scent is not over pouring; just a touch of sweet flowery smell.

Disclaimer: The product mentioned in this post is given to me at free of charge for review purposes. However my review is always genuine, honest and unbiased.

So what’s your current fave hair oil? Share with me :)

L’Oreal Shine Caresse Swatch & Comparison

Shine Caresse’s ultra-light fluid texture immediately melts onto the lips for a long-lasting moist-look effect combined with completely unprecedented comfort and freshness. Redefines shine with an all new sensation of soft, moist lips.

The secret: an exceptionally high concentration of moisture thanks to a unique formula made with 30% water and 60% oil for unprecedented freshness.

Shine Caresse:

• a soft, moist-look effect
• light, luminous shine
• long-lasting hold
• a sensation of fresh moisturization

A feather-shaped applicator

The Shine Caresse foam applicator leaves the lips with a light, subtle luster thanks
to a tiny hole in the center designed to remove excess color as you apply it.
Taking the form of a feather, the applicator shapes itself to your lips for easy, one-step application without a mirror. The feather-shaped applicator accentuates the shiny, comfortable, non-sticky qualities of the texture.

The information above are taken from the press kit

Now onto my own pictures and review!

I received these 7 colors recently during the preview media launch. I have read few beauty blogs that mentioned Shine Caresse is very similar to YSL Glossy Stains. I am so excited to try whether this is the real dupe of YSL Glossy Stains :) Please keep reading if you want to know.

There will be 8 shades of L’Oreal Shine Caresse in Singapore. I only have 7 colors with me, I missed 606 Eve. The color range of Shine Caresse ranges from nudes, soft pinks, coral and reds. The packaging is in a gold color which looks very sleek and nice.

Swatches of the softer shades:

Swatches of the bolder shades:

Texture & Smell:

L’Oreal Caresse has a glossy finish. The pigmentation of Shine Caresse is not as pigmented as what I would have expected. At the swatches above, I applied two layers. As you can see, even with two layers, some of the colors are still sheer. What I love about Shine Caresse is that these products does not leave a sticky feeling, It has a jelly like finish. Moreover the smell of Shine Caresse is not strong, not something that would annoys me.

Comparison with YSL Glossy Stain:

In terms of texture, I can feel that there’s a slight difference between them. YSL Glossy Stains sinks in better than Shine Caresse. As you can see in the swatch above, YSL Glossy Stain is more pigmented than L’Oreal Shine Caresse. I find that Shine Caresse is more moisturizing and it doesn’t peel off my lip. YSL Glossy stain has better pigmentation but the texture makes my lips peel. Another thing that differentiates these two is the scent. Shine Caresse has a softer scent which is a WIN thing for me. YSL Glossy Stain scent is way too strong for me which I dislike.

Looking at the brush shape, L’Oreal Shine Caresse has a longer and rounder shape of brush, whereas YSL Glossy Stain has a more pointed shape. I personally prefer YSL’s more pointed shape brush. It helps me to apply the color more neatly and more evenly. However, since L’Oreal Shine Caresse  has lesser pigmentation, I don’t have issues the brush shape.

Final Thought:

Overall I think L’Oreal Shine Caresse is really worth checking. I personally love the jelly like texture, the shine, the finish and the non strong smell. The color range is also not bad, I can find soft shades and bold shades. It’s weird to say this because I usually love sheer and nude colors but Shine Caresse bold colors shouts to me louder, they look much better than the sheerer one. My favorite shade from this collection is 603 Milady and 801 Princess. They show up very well on me :)

L’Oreal Shine Caresse will be retailing at $18.90 in February 2013
