Diorskin Nude Tan Paradise Duo – 001 Pink Glow

I know I have acquired quite a number of bronzers lately and I know that I don’t need more of it. But when I saw the promo pictures of Dior Summer 2013 collection, I immediately drool over Diorskin Nude Tan Paradise Duo. I missed last year’s Dior Skin Nude Tan so I wouldn’t want to miss this one anymore. It’s too pretty to resist! :p

Dior Skin Nude Tan Paradise Duo comes in two shades – Coral Glow and Pink Glow. I picked Pink glow because I like pink better as a blush. Coral pink looks awesome too! You can check the review of Coral Glow in Mostly Sunny’s Blog

The Packaging:

Dior Nude Tan comes in a hefty silver metal packaging. It’s prone to finger print (I had a hard time capturing the photo of the silver casing!). It also comes with a mini kabuki brush- it’s a perfect brush to be brought when you’re travelling.  The hair is soft and the size is just nice to be used as a blush brush or a bronzer brush. Both products come with a velvety pouch.

The Shade & Texture:

What I love about this product is that it consist of two shades of bronzers and two shades of blush. I can easily choose the shade I want to use or I can just mix them altogether.

I am glad that the bronzer doesn’t come with shimmer – it’s not totally matte but you can barely see any shimmer particles on your face. It gives you a very nice glow without having any shimmers. The bronzer has a soft texture and is very well pigmented, it shows up on my face nicely in one swipe. Don’t worry about having too much product on your face; although it is nicely pigmented, it won’t be too much with two swipes.

The blush’s texture is very soft and buttery. It’s very well pigmented and I just need to lightly dab my brush to get the color. The blush has more sheen compared to the bronzer. I really love the sheen of this blush, it makes my face looks glowy without making it look like a disco ball.

As you can see in the swatches above, the finish of these product has a very nice sheen to give enough glow on your face without making it look like a disco ball. The color swipes nicely on my face and when swatched.

I hope my review is helpful :)

Dior Grand Bal Nail Polish in Marilyn and Diva

Hello all,

Finally the swatch of Dior Grand Bal is up! Marilyn and Diva are the polishes that I picked from Dior Grand Bal collection. Marilyn was the first that I picked because red is my favorite nail polish shade. Then Diva caught my attention during Sephora 20% member sale. I couldn’t resist getting Diva thus here are my choices!

Dior Grand Bal packaging is very special. Just looking at the bottles could make me feel happy ;) What makes me happy beside the wonderful packaging is that the brush of these polishes are thinner than the usual Dior brushes. It makes the application process much easier.

Marilyn

I guess the name Marilyn is very appropriate with the red shade. Marilyn reminds me of Marilyn Monroe; her sexiness, her attractiveness and her passion. Marilyn is a jelly red polish. The formula is just nice; not too runny and not too thick. It applies well on the first coat but it looks very thin. But on the 2nd coat, it looks flawless and just perfect.

Diva

Diva is a black creme polish with tiny gold glitters. The glitters spread evenly in the bottles. The application of Diva requires two coats to achieve full opacity. The glitters spreads evenly during the application too. However I was expecting that the glitters would look more obvious on the nails; just like what it looks like on the bottle. In real life, you can see the glitters slightly better than what’s captured here.

To make it more lively, I added one coat of Nothern Lights Holographic top coat in silver as swatched below.

Final Thought:

Dior Grand Bal polishes are certainly nice to have polishes because of its beautiful bottle. The formula does not disappoint and the brush helps the application works much easier than the usual Dior brushes. The colors are not unique, you can easily find something similar for these polishes especially Marilyn.

Thank you for reading.

My Picks for Dior Grand Bal + Diorific in Diorling Review

Hello dearest readers!

Dior Grand Bal collection is one of my favorite collection for this festive season. The packaging is just soo pretty and classy. I foresee that I would love this products even more after few years. I am a person who loves to take a look at my old product and admiring how pretty the color and the packaging is.

I picked few items from the collection. I picked two nail lacquers and a lipstick. Dior Nail Lacquer in Diva has caught my attention for its lovely gold shimmer and Marilyn has a very pretty red for Christmas season . I also picked Dior lipstick in Diorling, a perfect nude for the Christmas season.

Here are my picks for Dior Grand Bal collection:

Diorific in Diorlong Review:

The main thing that attracts me is only the packaging. Actually I know that I don’t need this lipstick but such a nice packaging is not something I can get every year. The packaging is just classy and would look amazing anytime I am using it.

Diorling is a pinkish nude lipstick with micro fine golden shimmer. It has satiny finish. The texture is fine; opaque in two coats and lasts for 4-5 hours with me. However I find it less moisturizing compared with other brands such as Chanel or Burberry. I like to use Diorling as a base lipstick color to top it up with a shimmery lipgloss.

I will try to share with you the swatch of Diva and Marilyn soon. Pardon me if it takes quite long to swatch those nail polish :)

So guys,

What is your pick for Dior holiday season?

Thank you

XOXO Meryl :)

My Pick from Dior Fall 2012: Golden Jungle Crocodile Effect Nails

I picked up another thing from Dior Fall 2012 – Golden Jungle Crocodile Effect Nails. When I first saw the promo pictures of this nail effect, I thought “this is cool, but is this only a photo editing effect?” At first I thought this would turned out to be like other brands’ crackles or shatters which only cracks without any patterns. Then I see swatches online and I thought again “this is awesome and I must get it!” :)

This nail polish duo is sold at S$47 (can’t buy separately). It comes with a glitter gold base and with the green croc effect. The pricing for this is reasonable. Each Dior nail polish costs S$36 (correct me if I am wrong here) and this duo is being sold at S$47.

Now I am going to show you step by step on how I am doing it:

Step 1: Paint your nails 2 coats with the gold glitter as a base. The SA recommend me NOT  to use any base coat but I used a base coat anyway.

Step 2: I applied croc effect nail polish while it’s still half wet (about 1 minutes).I didn’t apply a very thick amount of polish. The croc effect takes pretty long to show the perfectly shaped ‘croc’. I waited about 8 minutes to see the final result.

Step 3: You can see that it doesn’t show a very big croc effect in my nails. I guess I need to apply a thicker amount of polish  You need to wait until the nail polish is completely dry, then you can apply top coat. For more tips, you can take a look at The Make Up Blogette’s post on this. She writes a very helpful step by step :)

By the way, One of Dior SA told me that I this croc polish will not show any croc effect if it isn’t paired with the gold base. I don’t trust what she said and immediately try it at home. The base that I used here is OPI Just spotted the lizard. It shows that this croc effect works on other nail polish too! It crocs perfectly! I am a bit disappointed with the SA comment saying that this croc effect will only work when paired with Dior Gold base coat which is sold together in that duo set. I mean.., If you’re not sure the answer to my question, you can say that you don’t know. I will be totally fine with that. Please understand what you’re saying or else don’t need to answer. Well this is not a complain from me, just a simple thought on the service from one of the SA.

So that’s the final picture!

Final thought: For those of you who loves a unique nail design, this is certainly a MUST HAVE! it’s unique and one of a kind, I don’t think this ‘croc’ design nail polish is available in the market before Dior launched this. I like this polish a lot and since this is a limited edition, I think I have made the right choice to get it :)

I have reviewed Dior fall collections: Dior Golden Savanna and Dior Golden Khaki . Both are gorgeous and this little addition complement my Dior Fall collections :)

Do you like croc pattern nails?

My Pick from Dior Fall 2012 – 5 Couleurs 774 Golden Savanna Review

I have another thing to show you from Dior Fall 2012 collection, it’s the 5 Couleurs 774 Golden Savanna eye palette. When I first see the promo pictures of this collection in beauty blogosphere, I knew this is the MUST HAVE thing! This is my first ever Dior Eye Palette. If you have been seeing Dior Eye Palette in memoiselle, it must be Monica’s ;) I am very excited to own my first Dior 5 couleurs, especially when this is a limited edition :)

Firstly let’s talk about the packaging. Golden Savanna packaging is not as good as Dior Golden Khaki that I have reviewed before. The case is made of plastic, just the same as what other Dior 5 couleurs are made of.

The pigmentation of this eye palette is fine. Although I hope this can be more buttery and smooth, this is enough to satisfy me. Although it is not as buttery and smooth as what I expect it to be, I am surprised that the fall out is very minimal. When I use this palette for these 3 days, I have not experienced major fallouts that upsets me. You can see the swatch of the palette above. The colors are very wearable and versatile for everyday use.

Another thing that I love about this palette is that many of the colors have semi matte finish. I have lots of shimmering neutral eyeshadow colors and this would be a great complement to my neutral eyeshadow stash. You can see in the swatch above that the finish is somewhat matte but still have that beautiful shine.

I have done a look with Golden Savanna,

The makeup products used in this palette:

Eyes: Dior Golden Savannah, Giorgio Armani Maestro Quad #4 (I wish I could do a review about this very soon), Revlon Eye Pencil in Black, the lashes are from Taiwan (there’s no brand name in the packaging)

Cheeks: Chanel Joues Contraste blush in Rouge and in Or (I need to make use of this more!) and Burberry Sheer Summer Glow (I have been using this a lot and I hope to see the pan! :) )

Have you picked anything from this collection? Tell me about that :)

Thank you for reading.
