Kiehl’s Philosophy – Try Before You Buy

Try before you buy header

The company behind sampling continues to revolutionize the industry.

In our modern society, there are many experiences and things we take for granted in our hectic, daily lives that were birthed from the advancement of quiet pioneers in New York City history.

Did you know?

In 1633, the first public brewery in America was established by Peter Minuit at the Market (“Marckvelt”) field in Lower Manhattan.

The New York Post, established in 1803 by Alexander Hamilton, is the oldest running newspaper in the United States.

In 1894, the first motion picture was shown by Thomas Edison on Broadway.

Similarly, it is unknown to many that Kiehl’s, the 161-year-old skincare purveyor, holds a unique position as an early pioneer in customer service — which has not only been studied by Harvard Business School, but also has inspired the service models seen in some of today’s Fortune 500 companies. In today’s consumer culture, when purchasing skincare products, 76.8% of female consumers wish they had access to more expert advice and more samples

My thoughts on this campaign:

I personally love Kiehl’s products and the generous samples the SA always give to me when I purchased some products. The sample size is enough for few days supply so I can determine whether the product is suitable for my skin.

So ladies, don’t forget to click on the link on the picture above, and get some Kiehl’s sample 🙂

Quick Review: Chanel Retractrable Kabuki Brush

Hi all,

I finally got myself my first Chanel brush. I have been wanting to buy a Chanel brush but none of their brushes attracts me because they’re expensive and the hair does not feel as soft as I expect it to be. However when I heard that Chanel is releasing a kabuki brush and after reading the review from Ommorphia Beauty Bar , I decided to get this brush.

So how does Chanel Retractable Kabuki Brush feels?

This brush is a dome shaped brush with a very dense hair. It feels super soft; how should I say it?  It is just very very soft. Is it comparable to the softness of Tom Ford brushes? Definitely yes. The hair is made of synthetic hair and it can be used for applying all over powder, blush and even helps to contour your face.

This brush is my first retractable brush which I can safely put in my make up bag. I don’t need to worry that the brush will get dirty or will change in shape because it is nicely protected by the brush cap. It is my go to touch up brush when I am not at home; I am using this to reapply my blush and bronzer. The density of this brush helps me to apply bronzer to sculpt my face. It also helps me to even blend my blush after reapplying it.

I have also washed my brush once. I did not take a picture of the brush afterwards. But I  can tell you that the brush doesn’t change in shape and the hair does not shed after washing. Because of its density, it took about 12 hours to be completely dry.

Final Thought:

Overall, I am madly in love with this brush for its softness and density. It’s just a pity that it comes in white colored hair, because I know eventually the color won’t look as white as what it looks like now. Nevertheless, I am still loving this brush a lot 🙂

Have you checked out this brush? What do you think of it?

Chanel Ombres Fleuries Quadra Eye Shadow in Délicatesse

I have been wanting to post a review for this eyeshadow quad for the longest time. It has been sitting in my draft for 2 months and I just didn’t have the urge to write on this post. However after a while, I decided to put my thoughts onto this post. Please enjoy!

I believe  Délicatesse is an eyeshadow quad exclusively launched in Asia. I bought this in April and I still see some Chanel counters are carrying this item. Délicatesse is part of Les Delices de Chanel collection and launched together with their Le Blanc range earlier this year.

Délicatesse has a round shaped eyeshadow like the usual Asian Baked version. However the texture of Délicatesse is not baked, but it has the feeling of Chanel Harmonie Du Soir  which was released on 2012 winter. It is much softer than the usual baked version. It’s smooth, soft and very nice to touch. Délicatesse eyeshadow quad is very pretty; it has camelia prints which makes it looks very spring appropriate and it looks so girly.

Délicatesse has a high sheen and it is high in shimmer. Although the texture is very nice, soft and smooth, it lacks pigmentation. The shade is sheer and shimmery. At first, the color might seem  boring as it looks similar. But you need to the swatch!

The green shade looks boring in the pan, but when it is swatched it looks different! It has a duo chrome effect. I am not sure if you could see the duo chrome effect but it has a grey and green tone. The white shade looks boring for me as it is plain white with shimmer and I foresee that I would use this mostly for my upper cheek highlighter. I like the pink shade too, it looks very nice to be worn as a base shade. The plum shade has the best pigmentation in this pan and has the least amount of shimmer. The plum has a slight golden shimmer.

Final Thought:

Délicatesse certainly has one of the prettiest eyeshadow prints. The shade of Délicatesse might be more appropriate for cool toned skin people and it’s certainly for people who likes shimmer. I personally buy this palette because of the pretty green-grey duo chrome shade and the wearable pink shade. It’s definitely not a must have product but it’s very nice to have a pretty limited edition eyeshadow product.

Dolce & Gabbana Natural Monica Voluptuous Lipstick

Hi everyone! its been a while since I posted lip products. Lip products such as lip gloss and lipstick used to be the only makeup I wear when I was at school but these days, I don’t wear it anymore. I tend too lazy to touch up since lipstick wear off very quickly.  But that doesn’t mean I stop buying them.  I have posted my new lip products in instagram but I just have to review D&G first. Not because it has my name on it (yay!!) but also this is a birthday gift from Meryl. If it wasn’t her, I wouldn’t know they are even existing.

What it is:
A highly pigmented lipstick that gives medium to full coverage in a radiant, satin finish.

What it does:
Thanks to an intense skin-conditioning formula, this lipstick leaves lips looking plump, feeling soft, and appearing voluptuous. The colors are rich and luminous, with a smooth and creamy texture that glides easily on the lips for buildable coverage. Inspired by Monica Bellucci, Dolce & Gabbana’s main muse, the Monica Lipstick embodies the sensuality of the Italian woman.

Information above extracted from Sephora website

I totally adore the packaging, of course because it has my name on it. Other than that, this lipstick also very light and very comfy to hold because its rounded shape not like Burberry’s lipsticks.

PicMonkey Collage

Texture wise, its very moisturizing. Its almost winter here in Sydney and I didn’t use any lip balm before hand, but it stay put and not drying my lips. It makes more sense in my FOTD picture later in the post.

Above is swatches of D&G, YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige, and Burberry Lip Cover in Cameo. All are very moisturizing but color wise, I prefer this D&G because like its name Natural Monica, it is very natural. Suitable for me who didn’t brave enough to wear bold color lipstick. Maybe someday I will!

Bottom line: In love with the packaging! Good texture and nice color too! but I guess many lip products with similar shade in cheaper price. This D&G retail for approx. AU$35.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 05 Dark Spice

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 05 Dark Spice  is my second Burberry palette, I have reviewed the smokey grey here. No doubt about it, this palette texture are amazing, very buttery and pigmented. Also this colors are more in my comfort zone.

I found this palette very unique in the color combination with three matte colors and one with gold flecks color.  Following picture are the closer look of the palette, having said that because of the lighting (I guess :p), the first picture capture the color much better.

The only problem I’ve got, I think this only happen to me tho. I found this quite challenging to use all the 4 colors in one go and the second color from the top is difficult to blend. Anyway we don’t have to use all the four colors in one look right? Below swatches are taken without primer and colors are beautifully smooth and pigmented.

And here’s my look with Dark Spice paired with Burberry Tangerine blush, more details coming soon 🙂
