Items I’ve Been Loving Lately

Hi Hi!

Lately I’ve been trying many items and I’ve fell in love with these items again and again. You may notice that some of the items here might not be a new release but it may be a rediscoveries for me.

Here we go!

My life has been very busy lately but I’ve been trying few things to experiment on my skin lately, here are some skincare which I’ve tried and found it suitable for me:

La roche posay Toleriane Fluide Emulsion
This is one of my recent discoveries, this emulsion keeps my skin well hydrated and it has a very light texture. During weekend breakfast when I don’t feel like applying too much on my skin, i’ll just apply this and slap on some SPF on my face. I can feel that my skin feels hydrated enough and non oily at all. The best thing about this product is that it contains no smell at all and it’s suitable for sensitive skin.

Shu Uemura Sublime Beauty Oil in Essence
I’ve always been a fan of Oil based skincare for its ability to keep my skin hydrated and to delay aging. The light texture of Shu Uemura sublime beauty oil is light and it’s absorbed into the skin quickly. I enjoyed using adding this onto my morning and night time skincare ritual – when my skin gets hydrated and I need that extra booster, I’ll make sure Shu Uemura Sublime Beauty Oil in Essence is within my reach.

The smell might be a lil tricky – at first it smells kinda unusual to me but as I keep applying the oil, I start to appreciate the smell and have grown into loving it.

One of the ingredients, geranium oil, helps to improve collagen expression in our skin, making my skin plumper and softer. I agree that after using this for sometime, my skin feels softer and plumper!

La Nuit de Chanel
I may be quite late to get into the bandwagon but I’ve been loving this a lot lately. I tried the samples of Le Jour, La Nuit and Le Weekend but La Nuit is the one that won my heart. I feel that with La Nuit – my skincare is absorbed better into the skin, making my skin looks fresh in the morning.

Kiehl’s Ultra Light Defense Sunscreen

In Singapore’s hot and humid weather, one skincare that I will not miss is definitely Sunscreen. Kiehl’s sunscreen has recently been reformulated with new ingredients such as Rosa Gallica to protect your skin against irritation. The new formulation puts the PA to ++++ rather than +++ which Kiehl’s claims to give an anti aging benefit.

This is the sunscreen that I’ve been using lately and so far I like how it feels on my skin. Upon application, I don’t feel any greasiness on my skin and most importantly I don’t notice any white cast whenever I’m taking a selfie or group picture.

Clarisonic Pedi Foot Transformation Self

The device that helps me cleans my dry feet! I tend to neglect taking care of my feet and focusing too much on the top part of my body (e.g. hair/face). Thanks to Clarisonic, I start to take care of my foot nowadays. The kit consists of one device with two brush head- smoothing disc and buffing brush head. I love the smoothing disc to soften my rough skin! I can see my dead skin being cleaned and how my feet feels much softer after that. The regime for using the smoothing disc is recommended for a twice weekly regimen.

On to make up items, I’ve also tried quite a few things lately and found these items to be working well for me. Here they are:

Sulwhasoo Perfecting Cushion

Although this is not a new product on my staple, I rediscovered this again and liking it again :) it’s super easy to use and what I love most about this is the coverage. I own few bb cushion and most of them has lighter coverage. depending on my needs, Sulwhasoo perfecting cushion would be the one I’m using when I need extra coverage.

Tom Ford Skin Illuminating Duo in Moodlight
This is one of the products that I’ve seen lots of time in instagram and most people seems to be raving about it! I know I didn’t need to get another highlighter but when I swatch this at TF counter in Sg, there’s no turning back.
The highlighter is simply stunning! It’s the highlighter that never goes wrong and it won’t make my face looks like a discoball. It gives a very subtle shine onto my face. The contour shade may not be my favorite contour shade, but when the contour shade is paired with few blushes of mine, it gives a lovely glow onto my cheek.

Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune for the holiday 2015 collection

Beauty Remix Smoky Eye & Cheek Palette in Plum

An eyeshadow palette with a blush shade. Firstly, I love how Maison Kitsune designs the palette cover, it looks simple yet very cute!
I’m loving the palette especially that taupe shade! It’s so easy to use and by only using that color, my look on weekdays is settled. The palette comes with an orange blush which might look scary in the pan, but when applied onto my face, it looks wearable.

Onto the lippie, how I love this! Lacque Sparkler in Plum Shimmer stays on my lip for a good 6 hours even after lotsa glass of water. I don’t find my lips to be drying after wearing this This deep pink shade lifts up my mood instantly! These days I always keep this on my bag for an evening event.

Chanel Alezane
Lately I’ve been drawn to fall in love with darker shade blushes so that I can use it as a contour cum blush. Alezane is a reddish brown shade with shimmer. This shade works very well as a contour cum blush as it’s dark enough to be used as a contour yet it doesn’t make my face looks dull when used as a blush.

I love how soft Chanel Joues Contraste blushes are. The blush is well pigmented, so I would suggest to use squirrel hair brushes (Koyudo BP018/Suqqu cheek brush) to make sure that the brush doesn’t take too much color.

Dior Addict Lipstick in 976 Be Dior
Another lip product that’s worth a rave! Be Dior is one of 4 iconic shades in the relaunch. Be Dior has an excellent color intensity, the color shows up perfectly on my lip and it feels moisturizing. I love the newly designed packaging with magnetic cap! The new packaging helps me a lot when I’m being clumsy and forgot to properly close my lipstick.

The reformulation of Dior Addict has made me fall in love again and again with the lipstick – the hydragel coating makes the finish looks slightly shiny and plump! This shade 976 Be Dior is the shade that Jennifer Lawrence wears in the Shine dont Be Shy ad, the lip shade looks gorgeous and I think this shade is a great addition to my lipstick collection where mostly I own pinky/nude lipstick.

Have you tried any of the products mentioned? What are your thoughts? ;)

You may also find that this post is appearing on Silverkis ;) It’s a pleasure that Linda is asking me to post a note on her blog while she’s away for a holiday!

Benefit They’re Real Push Up Liner

What is the make up item that you always have in your bag? For me it would be eyeliner and lipstick (yes I always have two make up items or more :p)

Benefit has released They’re Real Push Up Liner last year, and many people are swear by it. It’s the best selling prestige liner in the US (research by the NPD group Inc). Following up to their success, Benefit is now releasing They’re Real Push Up Liner in 4 fun colors; beyond brown, beyond blue, beyond green and beyond purple.

The main characteristic that makes this eyeliner differs from others is the applicator itself. The accu-flex tip is designed in such a way that makes application easy, smooth and lash hugging. I have tried using this eyeliner for a few times and here’s what I found:

  • I need to turn two clicks to get the amount of product needed. One click (as recommended) does not provide the amount of product needed to get the pigmentation I need.
  • Start drawing from the end of your eyelid and continue lining it to tear duck area. By doing this, it’s easier to get a balance flick for both eyes at the end of your eyelid.
  • Smudging is not a problem as it sets on my lid for the whole day without smudging; but during application, The formula sets quite quickly so if you make any mistake, removing it would be quite troublesome
  • Use a light stroke for the early application as the product , and you may put more pressure as you draw on.

One of the main advantages of this eyeliner is the lasting power and the smudge proof formula. My eyelid tends to be oily and not many eyeliner (especially in gel formula) can last for the whole day without smudging, but They’re Real Push Up Liner stays on my lid without smudging for a good 6 hours.

Here’s what the colors look like, on the left is beyond green and on the right is beyond purple. What I did was drawing one line and if I need deeper pigmentation, I would add on more color.

On the removal process, using oil cleanser works best for me. I would apply my oil cleanser all over my face and gently rub my lid. If I still find any residue, I would use my micellar water to do the cleansing.

Overall, the addition of the 4 new colors has definitely make this Push Up Liner stands out better than before. In some days when I feel that black eyeliner is boring, I would go for colorful eyeliner to create a simple yet unusual look. I love green eyeliner on my eyes, it looks less boring but yet it never fails to make my eye looks bigger. The lasting power is amazing, it stays on for a good 6 hours without any signs of fading/creasing or smudging.

Benefit They’re Real Push UP Liner will be retailing for $42 and will be available in Singapore on June 25th onwards

This is a press sample provided by Benefit Singapore for my consideration. My opinion is genuine and based on my experience.

Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Youthful Bounciful-Fine Emulsion Review

Hello beauty blogosphere!!

I have missed you! It’s been more than a month since I posted. So for those of you who are following me on instagram, you would have known that I am a new mom! I gave birth to my adorable baby girl slightly more than a month ago and life has been busier since then. I am glad that finally I could find some time to write a review about a product here.

The next day I gave birth to my baby, I found that my skin has gone to a very dry condition. Not only dry, but it looks so unhealthy, dull and tired looking. I can’t help but feel so bad about myself. After few days, I am trying to start my skincare regime again. This time, I am trying out a relatively new product; Shu Uemura Tsuya Skin Youthful Bounciful – fine Emulsion.

For the Tsuya range, there are two new additions to the range. There’s a cream version and emulsion version which I am going to review here. Emulsion has a lighter texture when compared to the cream version.

I have always been a fan of Tsuya Essence since it was launched. With its main ingredient, it never fails to brighten up my skin from dull looking into bright and healthy looking skin. So when Shu Uemura presents me the new product from the range, I am beyond thrilled to try it! The new product comes in two texture; emulsion and cream. I picked the emulsion this time.

Taken from Shu Uemura website,

the Emulsion is described as:

a lightweight moisturizer that creates bouncy-fine smooth skin “touch” and delicate dewy-glow “look”

The emulsion comes in a lovely sleek white packaging with a pump. For those of you who are concerned over hygiene issue, this should not be a problem as you can always press the pump to get the product.

Tsuya skin range promises to give you that bouncy and youthful looking skin. One of the key ingredient in this product is Rhamnose – which is clinically proven to improve collagen production. This will result in smoother and more radiant skin.

For many months, My skincare routine has always include Tsuya-skin as this is my key serum to boost youthful radiance to my skin. I am using the Emulsion as my final skincare regime every morning and night. I have been using this continuously for about 5 weeks now and I have been seeing improvement on my skin – from dull and tired looking skin to bouncy and more hydrated skin that feels bouncy.

I can see myself using this in the long run, not only because the texture is light, but also it does not make my skin feels oily. The light smell of the signature Tsuya scent is not too overwhelming too, making it a lovely scent to wrap my skincare regime for the day and night. Most importantly, I can see this product delivers positive result to my skin. My skin looks healthier and bouncier!

Shu Uemura Shu:Palette Edition Swatch

This season, Shu Uemura releases an eyeshadow palette consisting of neutral shades. While there are so many brands which have released this kind of neutral shades palette, it’s exciting to know that a brand as big as Shu Uemura has finally decided to release a neutral palette too!

All the shades in this palette is non limited edition shade, you can find it in the store and buy it separately. The palette also comes with dual ended brush with synthetic hair.

The palette consists of mixture of matte shades, glittery and shimmery shades.

And here are the shades as shown at the back of the palette.

As you can see in the codes above, there are a few color code; G for glitter, M for Matte, ME for Metallic, IR for Irridescent, P for pearl, S for shimmer.

I must say that all the metallic and pearl shades in this palette have very good quality. They are soft, buttery, well pigmented and very easy to apply. I experience no fallouts for the metallic shades. However I find that some of the Matte & Pearl shade lacks of pigmentation, the color doesn’t show much on my skin when swatched. I also experience fallouts on the glittery shade when applied; it feels so smooth during swatch but upon application on my eye, I can see some fallouts.

There are 16 shades in this palette and it also comes with dual ended synthetic brush. The palette is retailing for SGD 160 in Singapore; it means that you are paying $10 for each shade. A very good deal for Shu Uemura singles I’d say!

Overall, I would say that Shu:palette is a lovely palette for neutral shade lovers. The palette also comprise of darker colors specially on the bottom row to make the palette looks more vibrant and can be used to create smokey eye. There are endless possibility to layer on colors and creating looks with this palette. If you haven’t had any neutral shades artist palette or if you are neutral shades hoarder, you should consider having this palette specially for the value of each shade.

The palette is now retailing at all Shu Uemura counters in Singapore at SGD 160 with limited quantity
