Dolce & Gabbana Natural Monica Voluptuous Lipstick

Hi everyone! its been a while since I posted lip products. Lip products such as lip gloss and lipstick used to be the only makeup I wear when I was at school but these days, I don’t wear it anymore. I tend too lazy to touch up since lipstick wear off very quickly.  But that doesn’t mean I stop buying them.  I have posted my new lip products in instagram but I just have to review D&G first. Not because it has my name on it (yay!!) but also this is a birthday gift from Meryl. If it wasn’t her, I wouldn’t know they are even existing.

What it is:
A highly pigmented lipstick that gives medium to full coverage in a radiant, satin finish.

What it does:
Thanks to an intense skin-conditioning formula, this lipstick leaves lips looking plump, feeling soft, and appearing voluptuous. The colors are rich and luminous, with a smooth and creamy texture that glides easily on the lips for buildable coverage. Inspired by Monica Bellucci, Dolce & Gabbana’s main muse, the Monica Lipstick embodies the sensuality of the Italian woman.

I totally adore the packaging, of course because it has my name on it. Other than that, this lipstick also very light and very comfy to hold because its rounded shape not like Burberry’s lipsticks.

Texture wise, its very moisturizing. Its almost winter here in Sydney and I didn’t use any lip balm before hand, but it stay put and not drying my lips. It makes more sense in my FOTD picture later in the post.

Above is swatches of D&G, YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige, and Burberry Lip Cover in Cameo. All are very moisturizing but color wise, I prefer this D&G because like its name Natural Monica, it is very natural. Suitable for me who didn’t brave enough to wear bold color lipstick. Maybe someday I will!

Bottom line: In love with the packaging! Good texture and nice color too! but I guess many lip products with similar shade in cheaper price. This D&G retail for approx. AU$35.

Dolce & Gabbana Eyeshadow Quad in 135 Vulcano

Hello everyone,

I am glad that we are finally heading the end of the week again. I hope your weekdays have been great :)

Today I am going to review my first ever Dolce & Gabbana make up product. I have been reading lots of review about D&G make up brands and most of them say nothing but good thing. I relied heavily on online swatches to decide the shade that I want. I chose Vulcano as my first D&G purchase. I hope I’d be happy with my first purchase. To know what I think about this eyeshadow quad, please keep reading :)

The Packaging:

Dolce & Gabbana eyeshadow quad comes in a reflecting gold metal case. It’s heavy and it could feel a little bit bulky. Like most branded make up brands, Dolce & Gabbana also comes with a black velvet pouch. The eyeshadow comes with “DG” embossed in it. The metal case is very prone to finger print. I had minor difficulties taking pictures with it :p

The Texture & Color:

Vulcano consist of 4 shades which leans to orange & plums. The two colors at the top leans more to warm orange and the two colors at the bottom leans more towards plums. I would describe the shade on the upper left as shimmery champagne shade. The upper right shade is a soft mocha with a hint of orange. The bottom left shade is a cranberry purple and at the botton right is a dark plum.

The texture of the eyeshadow is buttery, smooth and pigmented. The texture reminds me of Burberry eyeshadow, they are really similar! I would even say that the soft mocha shade feels even softer and more buttery than some of my Burberry eyeshadows. The pigmentation is up to my expectation; the colors are true to pan. It does not disappoints at all! Blending the colors is a splendid thing to do; it blends beautifully :)

The Look:

Firstly I’d like to apologize with the imperfection of my false eyelash application. I had a horrible time applying the lashes on that day, but finally I decided to just confidently show this picture to you all :) I hope you’d understand.

Anyway you might have seen my overall look in this post. I had the same look posted in my review of Guerlain Sakura – Cherry Blossom Blush

Final Thought:

Overall I have no regret buying this quad! It satisfied all my expectation in a luxury brand eyeshadow :)

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 05 Dark Spice

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 05 Dark Spice  is my second Burberry palette, I have reviewed the smokey grey here. No doubt about it, this palette texture are amazing, very buttery and pigmented. Also this colors are more in my comfort zone.

I found this palette very unique in the color combination with three matte colors and one with gold flecks color.  Following picture are the closer look of the palette, having said that because of the lighting (I guess :p), the first picture capture the color much better.

The only problem I’ve got, I think this only happen to me tho. I found this quite challenging to use all the 4 colors in one go and the second color from the top is difficult to blend. Anyway we don’t have to use all the four colors in one look right? Below swatches are taken without primer and colors are beautifully smooth and pigmented.

And here’s my look with Dark Spice paired with Burberry Tangerine blush, more details coming soon :)

Must-Have Lip Balms

Lip balm can be key in keeping lips looking soft and gorgeous, and as such it has become something of a beauty-bag staple for many. However, with so many different brands available on the market, how do you choose which balm is best for you? Here are a few of the top contenders which are well worth a try.

First up it’s Smith’s Minted Rose lip balm – a sheer pink balm which will leave your lips thoroughly moisturised and smells good enough to eat! What’s more, this lip balm comes in a gorgeous vintage-style tip – perfect for leaving on your desk to remind you to reapply whilst you’re at work, or settling down to a game of Foxy Bingo of an evening. Smith’s Minted Rose lip balm also offers just a hint of colour, so it’s perfect for those who are keen to keep their make-up subtle.

If you’re looking to invest in a brand that had already stood the test of time, then why not try Carmex? The Carmex Original Jar was first launched back in 1937, and has since gone on to sell over a billion jars worldwide. Not only will this product moisturise dry lips, but it will also slightly numb lips which are already chapped and sore. In more recent years, Carmex have also released a number of flavoured lip balms (including Vanilla, Cherry and Lime Twist) as well as the ‘Moisture Plus’ range which is slightly tinted.

Another extensive lip balm range which has proved to be hugely popular in recent years is that of Burt’s Bees. Using natural ingredients such as beeswax, Burt’s Bees now offer a range of fruity flavours which will keep your lips soft, smooth and hydrated – and you won’t have to break the bank either! Their Ultra Conditioning Lip Balm with Kokum Butter is proven to moisturise lips for 4 hours after just one application!

Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain Le Brillant – B61 Brenda

Holla! I am very happy to show you my first ever Guerlain Lipstick! I bought this during Isetan Sale which cost me around $25 (I can’t remember the price clearly). There were not many choices during the sale, I remember that there were only 3-4 Rouge G Guerlain lipstick. Most of them are very dark vampy or purplish which I don’t like. Luckily I found this one which still very wearable. This is Guerlain Rouge G De Guerlain Le Brillant – B61 Brenda.

The name of this lipstick is so long that it makes me difficult to distinguish many range of Guerlain’s lippies. Anyway, Guerlain lipsticks are super gorgeous in terms of packaging. Previously I have mentioned how pretty YSL Rouge Volupte Range is, now I think this one is worth comparing. I still think YSL’s packaging is better because it’s lighter and more elegant. However in terms of elegance, I think Guerlain has better design.

This lipstick is heavy, in fact this is the heaviest lipstick I own. It’s made of metal with small mirror inside. Although the material is great, this material tend to leave some finger print after I apply this lipstick. I must always clean this lipstick after I applied some. It’s pretty difficult to get nice photo of this lipstick because of its metal case; hence you can see my red camera and me with my pyjamas :p .

You can see how “expensive looking” this lipstick is. Only by looking at it, you’ll know how elegant this lipstick is.

The texture of  B61 Brenda is pretty sheer. At first I thought it would look very opaque. I am happy that it turns out pretty natural. B61 Brenda is a coral pink with yellow undertone. This color match my personality very well. I love wearing this lipstick on daily basis; it’s not too bright for office wear yet it still gives the color that I want. This lipstick lasted for about 4 hours with me. I am happy to re apply this lipstick again and again because I am feeling so happy whenever I open this lipstick case and see how beautiful this lipstick is :)

Have you tried any Guerlain lipstick? What do you think of them?

Thank you for reading :)
