Radical Skincare Overview

The older I get, the more appreciation I have towards good skincare. Anti Aging Skincare plays a very important role on my daily skincare regime. I always make sure that anti aging product is incorporated into my skincare regime; I am too worried when I see some fine lines. Call me Kiasu, but well who doesn’t wish to delay skin aging? LOL 😉

The story behind radical skincare was an interesting one. Two sisters Rachel & Liz, both of them have been working in their father’s lab for years and thereafter they’re working in cosmetics industry to create skincare for celebrities. Rachel, who were in her 40s just had her second child and she was having rosacea. This time round, they decided to create skincare which can multitasks and at the same time suitable for sensitive skin.

Few weeks ago, I was given a chance to try RADICAL skincare. RADICAL skincare emphasises multi tasking effectiveness on their product. It’s a skincare to tackle multiple problems at one go; hydration, wrinkles, firmness and radiance. The skincare is packed with generous amount of antioxidant to combat anti aging process. The technology behind Radical Skincare is TRYLACEL technology – a technology that encapsulates the ingredients to mimic human membrane cells and helps to deliver functional materials to the sites where they are needed.

I was given a few products to try and I’d like to mention a few that has worked very well for me.

Extreme Repair

If I were to choose one moisturiser that works best for my skin so far, it would have to be Extreme Repair. My skin has became so dry after pregnancy and I have found few items that works well for my skin, but it seems like Extreme Repair has been the champion for all moisturisers that I’ve tried. Keep reading to know more!

Extreme Repair – as the name suggests, it is meant for dry skin that needs to be repaired asap. It hydrates and moisturises skin without making it look oily. It also firms and re-textures skin condition. The key ingredient is camauba wax from Brazil, desert date palm, and rice oil to protect our skin from harsh weather.

I’m wearing Extreme Repair after my serum and using this to my whole face and to my neck too. I find that Extreme Repair works wonders and it works quickly; I notice that my skin feels suppler and softer after 3 days. It feels smoother, looking healthier and more firm. It that doesn’t sound convincing enough, I even tried it on my mom’s face (my mom is in her 50s) and she too, commented that her skin feels so much better after using it for few days. We are now sharing this tube whenever she visits my place here 😉

Skin Perfecting Screen SPF 30

Another item that I found to be a lovely staple is the Skin Perfecting Screen. It’s packed with SPF 30.

Along with Radical Skincare philosophy, this product is meant to multitasks. Not only it helps to protect the skin against damaging UV Rays, it is also packed with a range of antioxidant to help delaying skin aging by reducing appearance of wrinkles.

Skin Perfecting Screen is also packed with Diamond powder which helps to give that healthy glow and thus I like to use this as a tinted moisturiser too. In the days where I don’t feel like applying too much make up, I will reach out to this and use it after my moisturiser. It provides light coverage and it doesn’t feel sticky at all on my skin. Even on the days when I am not going out, I will also apply a thin layer of Skin Perfecting Screen to make sure that my skin is well protected.

On most days, I am using this right after my moisturiser and will apply my BB cream to get the coverage I need. When I’m staying indoor , I have used this to top up some sunscreen on top of my make up when I need to step out and being exposed to the sun. It feels lightweight even on top of my make up; It didn’t feel sticky at all.

Hand and Nail Multi-Repair Creme

Last but definitely not the least is the Hand and Nail Multi Creme. Hand and nail cream is an important item on my skincare staple. It’s important because I tend to bite my nails a lot since I was a kid, hence applying hand cream would help me from biting my nails.

I rarely put my thoughts on hand and nail creme as I found most brands to be equal. But once I try Radical Skincare Hand and Nail Cream, I was sold. It was very lightweight and it was easily absorbed into the skin and it doesn’t leave any sticky feelings at all. I love the citrusy scent that smells so refreshing! It lingers very nicely and I definitely think this hand cream is suitable for everyone who likes lightweight cream and for those who doesn’t like heavy smell. I am definitely a fan of this hand cream 😉

With Trylacel technology, this handcream does not only hydrates the skin but also helps to protect the skin against aging. It’s made with ingredients such as coffee, tea, niacinamide, vitamin C and superoxide dismutase (SOD) to re-stimulate collagen to improve skin firmness. In the ingredient list, we can also find Hexylresorcinol to reduce dark spots and Myrrh to strengthen cuticles and nails.

In a nutshell, I definitely think that Radical Skincare worth a try. Although the price point is not the most affordable one, but hey it’s worth to pay more for something that WORKS. I strongly recommend Extreme Repair for people with dry skin. It feels very rich and moisturising; it can help to hydrate my skin in airconditioned room for a long hours.

Biore Whitening Sunscreen

In Singapore’s hot and humid weather, sunscreen is a must have product for me everyday. Although most of the time I would be indoor, I always make sure that the skincare/make up I am using contains at least SPF 30. It’s important to protect your skin under the sun and make sure that the product has enough protection.

Now let’s talk about the texture of this product, Biore Whitening Sunscreen has a creamy texture but it’s not sticky. Generally I feel that Asian brands suncreen texture are lighter than western brands. Biore whitening sunscreen is lighter than most western sunscreen that I’ve tried. Like the name of the product, Biore whitening sunscreen gives me a whitening effect instantly. It works well as a make up base too. This product has a mild floral scent which I think it’s fine. The scent is not over pouring, it is just fine.

As you can see in the swatches below, Biore Whitening Sunscreen absorbs well into the skin. The whitening effect is noticeable on the picture. What I like about the whitening effect is that it doesn’t make my skin looks unnatural, but it actually makes it looks glowing and smooth.

In my previous post, I have reviewed Biore Aqua Rich Water Base SPF 50+ and I am really sold by it. If I were to compare Biore Whitening Sunscreen and Biore Aqua Rich Water Base SPF 50+, I’d say both are different. Biore Aqua Rich Water base is very light and it is non sticky at all. I am completely sold by its texture; however it doesn’t work as a make up base for me. Biore Whitening Sunscreen has a thicker consistency and it’s more creamy, however it works well as a make up base to even out your skintone.

Price: $18.90 at leading drugstores

Final Thought: Overall Biore Whitening Sunscreen is good a good product that provides enough protection under the hot sun. The texture is pleasant and it works well as a base too. For a good quality product, I think $18.90 is a good deal. This product is worth trying 🙂

Hello every one!

Today I’m gonna share with you a newly launched product from YSL, it’s the UV Shield High Protection UV Skincare. I believe this product was launched on March 2013. This product is readily available in YSL boutique in ION Orchard and Tangs Beauty Hall Singapore.

With a scorching hot sun in this Sunny Singapore, UV protection is a need for my everyday use. I have tried several brands UV protection but when it’s YSL who comes out with this product, it gets me so excited! To know more about this product, keep on reading! 😉

What makes this product so special? According to YSL , here are the secrets of triple shields:

  • AN ANTI-POLLUTION BARRIER: enriched with Shea butter extract with detoxi- fying properties to protect skin against everyday urban aggressions by capturing floating metal particles.
  • OPTIMAL SPF50 pA++++ UV PROTECTION: a filtration system containing a blend of patented filters for high protection against UVB rays and boosted UVA protection (pA++++) to help effectively combat premature skin-aging and the formation of sun-induced brown spots.
  • ANTI FREE RADICAL PROTECTION: antioxidant vitamin E combined with tyrosi- nase-inhibiting peony extract protects the skin against free radicals generated by external aggressions.

The Packaging:

YSL UV Shield has a very simple packaging. There’s nothing fancy or luxurious. The tube is a squeezable with a handy size. You don’t need to worry that you’ll squeeze too much product as the end of the tube is really small so it’s unlikely that you’ll squeeze too much products.

The Texture & Smell:

YSL UV Shield looks white when squeezed out from the tube. However after spreading it evenly onto your face, it would look very natural. There’s no white sheen like the traditional UV protection has. The texture of this product feels light and non sticky at all. I personally love the smell of this products a lot 🙂 I mist admit that it smells pretty strong but the scents is very nice. I am not really good at describing scents, but it has a refreshing flowery smell which makes me feel refreshed everytime I apply my makeup every morning before work.

YSL UV shield is recommended to be used before your foundation or bb cream. I use this UV shield frequently especially if my foundation only gives me less than SPF 30++ protection. The sun in Singapore is very strong so I must make sure that my skin is well protected. YSL UV shield does not affect the lasting power of my foundation, so you don’t need to worry that your skin will get oily or your foundation will fades after using this as a base make up.

Final Thought:

Overall YSL Top Secret UV Shield provides a very nice texture and smell. It’s a nice UV protection to be worn as a base under your foundation to give you that extra protection you need especially when the sun is strong.

Have you ever tried this? What’s your fave UV protection product?

Now I am going to do a quick review of this product:

I receive this beautifully packed press release kit. When I got home and saw this beautifully packed product, I immediately grabbed my camera and take a picture of this. To know more about this product, please keep reading 🙂

The Packaging:

Biore UV Aqua Rich comes in a handy packaging.  It is a squeezable tube, light weight and easy to be put in my daily make up bag. The material is made of plastic which makes it very light weight.

The Texture:

As the name says, the texture is watery. There are micro scrub when you got the product fresh from the bottle; but when you blend it on your face, it melts beautifully and leaves no color on your face. It’s non sticky and it feels very light on my face. I don’t feel like I am wearing an extra layer of product on my face.

Final Thought:

Biore Aqua Rich Water Base works great to be worn on daily use especially for people who has dry skin. It helps to moisturize the skin and at the same time provide UV protection. The great thing about this product is that when blended into your skin, it is colorless. Hence it works very well as a base before wearing your foundation. For a product that’s reasonably priced at $18.90, I think the packaging looks just fine. It’s nice to look at and handy to be brought anywhere.
