July Empties!

Hello Everyone!

It’s been two months since I wrote my last “empties” post. I didn’t have much finished products last month so I thought I will just wait until the next month where I would have more finished product. So here it is, I am going to write a short review on the products which I finished in the last two months.

1. Bifesta Eye Make Up Remover

This make up remover works wonderfully to swipe away my eye makeup. It’s a very effective product to remove eyeshadow or even waterproof eyeliner. I love how this products easily cleans up my eye make up. It is priced reasonably at below $15 (I couldn’t remember the exact price).

Will I repurchase this again? Definitely

2. The Body Shop Olive Scrub

I simply love this scrub because of its texture. It’s very effective to remove dead skin cells. I have been using this since my high school time and still enjoy using it until now. My skin feels so smooth after I applied this scrub.

Will I repurchase this again? Definitely

3. L’Oreal Extraordinary Oil

Recently I have reviewed this product hereI mentioned how much I love the product in the review post on this product. It makes my hair feels very smooth without making it feel sticky. I usually use 3 pumps after I washed my hair and I can feel how smooth my hair feel after applying this oil. I also love the smell this product has; it’s a mixture of macadamia and some flowers.

Will I repurchase this again? Definitely

4. No7 Beautiful Skin Day Cream for Dry / Very Dry

I purchased this product when I was in the UK last January. I had a very dry skin there and my usual skincare routine were not creamy enough to combat the cold weather that dries my skin. I bought this product from Boots to help me moisturize my skin.

This cream has a thicker consistency and it is packed with SPF 15. It helps me to protect my skin from being dry for few hours in the cold weather and I need to reapply this cream after that. In Singapore, where the weather is humid, this cream can last for a longer hour.

Will I repurchase this again? Maybe

5. The Body Shop Seaweed Clarifying Toner

Before I apply any makeup, usually I will cleanse my face with toner. This Seaweed Clarifying Toner works well for people with combination skin. I have been loving this product for long time but recently I feel that it’s a bit drying for my cheek area. I still like this product but currently I am trying some other products that might work better for me.

Will I repurchase this again? Maybe

Yay that I have finished all these products. I hope I will have sufficient product to post next month, so we’ll see 😉

Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer Stress-Minimizing Daily Hydrator

Kiehl’s offers a breakthrough solution to help correct the visible signs of stress on skin

The chemists at Kiehl’s Since 1851, the venerable New York-based purveyor of fine quality skincare formulations, have found a solution to stress with an industry leading formula. Introducing, Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer Stress-Minimizing Daily Hydrator. Utilizing highly efficient ingredients Mannose and Rosa Gallica, this facial formula helps address and reduce skin’s visible response to stress.

In order to efficiently combat the signs of stress on skin, Kiehl’s chemists discovered they needed to address three factors.

1. Limit the release of stress signals:

Rosa Gallica Extract: Stress is well documented to cause an inflammatory response in the body. A research team led by Carnegie Mellon University’s Sheldon Cohen has found that chronic psychological stress is even associated with the body losing its ability to regulate the inflammatory response. The inflammatory response to stress signals and a weakened skin barrier can lead to visible “stressed skin” symptomssuchasredness, fatiguedskin, dehydrationandblotchiness. InvitrodatasupportsthatRosa Gallica Extract, sourced from the petals of the Rosa Gallica flower, limits the release of stress signals, in turn minimizing the inflammatory response and thus breaking the stress cycle.

2. Protect the skin barrier from future reactions:

Mannose: Research conducted by Columbia University’s Department of Dermatology validates 2 that it is able to strengthen and reinforce the skin barrier. A stronger skin barrier is known to reduce visible signs of stress on skin, making it less vulnerable to future, inevitable stress.
Squalane: Naturally-derived from olives, this healing botanical lipid is highly compatible with the natural oils in skin. Instantly restores and replenishes the skin barrier and is known to protect skin from dehydration. Renowned for its easily-absorbed texture, as well as for its silky after-feel.

Blend of Unique Ceramides: These lipids found in high concentrations within the cell membrane of skin cells are known to help protect and strengthen the skin barrier.

3. Treat, calm and hydrate the skin:

Chamomile Extract: Helps soothe and calm skin.
Glycerin: This humectant draws moisture from the air to increase immediate and prolonged hydration; helps skin regain its suppleness and smoothness.
Shea Butter: Naturally-derived from the African karate tree, it is a lipid known for its ability to protect skin from dehydration.

“Scientific research findings have informed us about the importance of reinforcing the skin barrier’s function. We therefore formulated Skin Rescuer to have two primary benefits. In the short-term, it minimizes stress reactions including redness and blotchiness, while over the long-term it protects skin, making it less vulnerable to the visible signs of stress and premature aging,” says Cammie Cannella, Vice President of Education and Customer Relations Worldwide. “No other formula is addressing stress and its visible effects on the skin in this way. Kiehl’s Skin Rescuer is a game-changer.”

Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle & Pore Reducing Cream

Kiehl’s recently launched a new product to combat wrinkle and pore. This was launched in May and I have tried the products for more than a month. So I guess it’s enough for me to write down what I think about Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle & Pore Reducing Cream.

Firstly, let me tell you briefly about my skin. For your information, I am currently 24 years old and I have a normal skin type. My T-zone can sometimes be oily but the rest of my face is usually non oily. Our skin starts to lose its elasticity at the age of early to mid twenties. So this product is not only for people who starts to have wrinkles but also to young people who also wants to combat wrinkles which has not shown yet.

Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle & Pore Reducing Cream is packed in a jar in a simple designed packaging. Jar packaging is good for me as I can make sure that the products will be used entirely. Some people dislike jar packaging due to its hygienic reason. I guess it’s up to each person to judge on this.

The texture of Kiehl’s Powerful Wrinkle & Pore Reducing Cream quite thick but it is non sticky. The eye cream has an even more thicker consistency than the face cream. Both face cream and eye cream has no scent, so this is suitable for people who dislike smell in their skin care product. The eye cream is very thick in texture, and I don’t use it on day time as I find it takes too long to absorb into my skin. The face cream sets onto my skin after 30 seconds; this is fairly quick so it’s great for my day cream.

My verdict after using it for 6 weeks:

This product shows its result after I used it approximately for 4-5 weeks. This product is not the most hydrating moisturizer I have tried but this cream suits my needs for day cream. It’s moisturising enough for my day time needs and it’s non sticky. I don’t see any result for my pore problem but it helps my skin to look hydrated most of the time.

Hello every one!

Today I’m gonna share with you a newly launched product from YSL, it’s the UV Shield High Protection UV Skincare. I believe this product was launched on March 2013. This product is readily available in YSL boutique in ION Orchard and Tangs Beauty Hall Singapore.

With a scorching hot sun in this Sunny Singapore, UV protection is a need for my everyday use. I have tried several brands UV protection but when it’s YSL who comes out with this product, it gets me so excited! To know more about this product, keep on reading! 😉

What makes this product so special? According to YSL , here are the secrets of triple shields:

  • AN ANTI-POLLUTION BARRIER: enriched with Shea butter extract with detoxi- fying properties to protect skin against everyday urban aggressions by capturing floating metal particles.
  • OPTIMAL SPF50 pA++++ UV PROTECTION: a filtration system containing a blend of patented filters for high protection against UVB rays and boosted UVA protection (pA++++) to help effectively combat premature skin-aging and the formation of sun-induced brown spots.
  • ANTI FREE RADICAL PROTECTION: antioxidant vitamin E combined with tyrosi- nase-inhibiting peony extract protects the skin against free radicals generated by external aggressions.

The Packaging:

YSL UV Shield has a very simple packaging. There’s nothing fancy or luxurious. The tube is a squeezable with a handy size. You don’t need to worry that you’ll squeeze too much product as the end of the tube is really small so it’s unlikely that you’ll squeeze too much products.

The Texture & Smell:

YSL UV Shield looks white when squeezed out from the tube. However after spreading it evenly onto your face, it would look very natural. There’s no white sheen like the traditional UV protection has. The texture of this product feels light and non sticky at all. I personally love the smell of this products a lot 🙂 I mist admit that it smells pretty strong but the scents is very nice. I am not really good at describing scents, but it has a refreshing flowery smell which makes me feel refreshed everytime I apply my makeup every morning before work.

YSL UV shield is recommended to be used before your foundation or bb cream. I use this UV shield frequently especially if my foundation only gives me less than SPF 30++ protection. The sun in Singapore is very strong so I must make sure that my skin is well protected. YSL UV shield does not affect the lasting power of my foundation, so you don’t need to worry that your skin will get oily or your foundation will fades after using this as a base make up.

Final Thought:

Overall YSL Top Secret UV Shield provides a very nice texture and smell. It’s a nice UV protection to be worn as a base under your foundation to give you that extra protection you need especially when the sun is strong.

Have you ever tried this? What’s your fave UV protection product?

Thank you for reading.
