Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Polish & Wipes Review

Hello Hello!

You may already heard that Crabtree & Evelyn Singapore has finally bringing in their nail polish range. Currently there are 12 shades available, ranging from creme shades to shimmery shades.

Screen Shot 2014-09-19 at 8.19.08 pmFew weeks ago, Crabtree & Evelyn Singapore sent me a bottle of nail polish in Tomato. It’s pleasant to know that I received a red nail polish as I wear red nail polish most of the time. As described in the picture above, Tomato is a bright red with gold glitter.

Crabtree & Evelyn Nail Polish comes in 15ml size. The bottle is rather short and comes in a rectangular shape.

The swatches below is taken under indirect sunlight. It’s very easy to apply this nail polish. The brush works well for me, not too long for my short nails. The picture below is taken after two layers application. On most days, I would apply one layer only as it is able to provide me an opaque nail look. This nail polish stays perfectly with me for about 3 days.

Crabtree & Evelyn has also brought in Nail Polish Wipes. Each box contains 8 wipes that is packet individually.

Here’s to a closer look of the size of the wipe and how it looks like

IMG_9943

Once I opened the pack and picked up the wipe, I can feel that the wipe has an oily feeling. It’s not too wet for me to handle and wipe away my nail polish, but it’s wet enough to dissolve the nail polish I have. I love the fact that this nail polish wipe doesn’t smell alcoholic or anything chemical. It smells much lighter that any of the liquid nail polish remover I have tried.

Here in this picture below, I have removed my nail polish on my both hands. You can see that even after removing nail polish on both of my hands, there’s still much spaces left. I even tried to wiped off the nail polish on my toes and all was cleared using only one wipe.

IMG_9944

The result is very effective. You can see how my nails look I removed my nail polish, there’s no yellow stains and there’s no chemical smell afterwards. My nails looks healthier too, I guess the oil texture helps to moisturises my nails and makes it looks healthier than usual.

Final Thought:

After trying to many nail polish brands, I think Crabtree and Evelyn’s nail polish is something worth collecting. Selling at $13 each, it doesn’t makes my wallet go broke yet I can still collect some of my favorite shades. The Nail polish remover wipes is something I would recommend for its ability to wipe off my nail polish without drying my nails and most importantly, there’s no heavy chemical smell.

Dior Gel Shine and Long Wear Nail Lacquer Swatches – Aventure & Pandore

IMG_9577.jpg

Nail Lacquer is my day to day essential. Firstly it’s because I have a bad nail bitting habit years ago and it was salvaged by nail polish. Since then, I always explore new nail polishes formula and love trying new brands too. I had a love hate relationship with Dior Nail Lacquer before, but I hope it’s going to change after knowing this one.

IMG_9578.jpg

IMG_9595.jpg

So I picked up these two. I love bright nail polish shades especially when it comes to red and bold orange.

I have applied these nail polishes quite frequently these days. Dior claims that this range of newly formulated nail polish will make your nail shine like a glass. Dior delivers their promise – Aventure and Pandore has stunning shine that makes my nails looks like some gel nail polish has been applied.

The texture of Pandore and Aventure is consistent. The texture is nor too thick neither too runny. I applied two coats for full opacity. These nail polish stays chip free for almost a week.

IMG_9604.jpgHere’s the brush of Dior Vernis Gel Effect as shown in the picture above.

IMG_9608.jpg

As you may see in the picture above, The brush on the top is the new Dior Vernis while the one below is the older version of Dior Vernis. The new Dior vernis is thinner and wider in shape. I am loving the shape of the brush as it helps me to pick up the amount of product as what I need. The application process is easy and the brush glides on easily without leaving any visible strokes.

So here’s Aventure – a bright and bold orange. I must say that I can easily say that this has been the best orange nail polish I have found – so far. Love love love the shade!

Pandore is a deep red. The red shade is so lovely – something that never goes wrong for every occasion; date night, work, or just a casual day.

Final Thought:

I am so happy that Dior is reformulating their nail polishes. The formula of these are gorgeous, it makes nail polish application so easy. I love the shades that I picked up, something that I have on my nail on most days! This is a must try ;)

Jin Soon Nail Polish Swatches

One of many nail polish brand that I’ve been wanting to try is Jin Soon. Many blogs have featured this nail polish brand quite some time ago and the review seems to be positive so far. For some of you who have not heard about this brand, here’s some introduction from the brand press release

Jin Soon Choi is one of the world’s most in?uential and sought-after names in the beauty industry. As a high fashion and editorial nail artist, Choi has built an impressive reputation as the go-to manicurist of top editors, photographers, designers and celebrities.
Crowned the “Nail Guru” by The New York Times Magazine, Choi is best known for her ability to pinpoint current and emerging trends and translate them into the art of nail design. Designer Prabal Gurung frequently calls on Choi’s talent for his shows, and has said that
her work is an essential element to bringing his runway looks to life. “The nails are the period at the end of the sentence,” says Gurung.

The design of Jin Soon Nail Polish is simple; it comes in a squarish shape with a cap with “Jin Soon” written on it.

Thank you to Vedure Nail Spa for these nail polishes for me to try on.

IMG_9444.jpg

Firstly it’s Coquette Coquette. This shade is part of Jin Soon the Quintessential Collection which consists of shades that is essential to any nail color collection. Coquette is a true classic red nail polish that everygirl should have. This is a timeless shade that can be pulled on anytime.

IMG_9567.jpg

I picked up a deep olive green shade – this is Metaphor. This is a very deep green that in certain lighting would look black to me. This shade is part of The Ala Mode Collection – the collections that was named after top runway model. Metaphor is named after Guinevere Van Seenus, she’s known for her artistic style and unique features.

IMG_9566.jpg

I also picked up a girly shade here; it’s called French Lilac. The name feels so cute to me. As the name suggest, French Lilac is described as light plum lavender. This one is part of Botanical Flower Collection.

As I swatch these 3 nail polishes, the formula of the Jin Soon is nice. The color looks true to the bottle and I love the texture of all these three nail polishes. They are rich but not too thick to be applied on smoothly. Coquette and Metaphor looks opaque on first application, but to make a perfect opacity, I applied two layers on my nails. French Lilac looks uneven on the first layer but once I apply the second layer, it looks nice. Jin Soon nail polishes has a nice high shine finish. The lasting power of Jin Soon nail polish is good; it last 3 days chip free with me.

Jin Soon nail polishes are 5 free- it means they are free of toxic chemicals like formaldehyde, toluene, DPB, camphor, and formaldehyde resin. This brand is against animal testing.

Jin Soon Nail Polish is available in Singapore and can be purchased in Vedure Nail Spa.

Vedure Nail Spa is located in Robinsons Orchard Level 1, Wheelock Place Level 4 and Robinsons Jurong Gateway Level 1

YSL is adding new collection of their Nail Polish range. La Laque Couture Spicy Collection consist of 1 gold flaky glitters and 6 cream shades. The shades released in this collection varies; some shades are very unique, it is something that I have not worn before whereas some other shade are quite similar to some of my nail polishes in my collection.

The swatches of Eau de Rose is taken by Monica.

42 Safran Sultan

With La Laque Couture no 42 Saffran Sultan, YSL creates an atypical, intensely warm shade that is both surprising and chic. Essential for an inimitable, shade for an avant-garde YSL look.

According to the press release, YSL describe this shade as a royal yellow. It looks like a yellow mustard cream shade too. This is a very unique shade and I have nothing like this in my stash.

43 – Opulente Cannelle.

YSL describe this as a rich coral shade. I find that this shade is a mixture of a deep rose shade combined with brown. This shade reminds me of Moroccan houses with the exotic feeling. This is my go to color whenever I don’t feel like having a red nails but at the same time I don’t wish to have a nude nails too.

44 Ambre Gingemembre

YSL describes this shade as oriental orange. Somehow this shade reminds me of pumpkin too.

46 – Poivre Noir

This color is describes as piquant plum. This shade is gorgeous and I love it so much. It is a deep plum shade which is suitable for all occasions.

46 – Piment d’Ailleurs

YSL describes this shade as torrid red. In the swatch below, I applied Feuille d’Or on my index finger.

47 Feuille d’Or

By just looking at the bottle, I am hooked onto this glitter shade. The glitter is gorgeous and it is looking festive. The texture of this nail polish is nice and it is easy to apply. Unlike some other glitter polishes, this glitter shade is not sticky and the gold sprinkles adds a touch of festive feeling to my nail.

Some tips from YSL on applying Feuille d’Or:

  • Applied over the opulent shades of La Laque Couture Spicy Collection. APply a fine coat over the entire nail, or just the half moons or the tips.
  • If you wish, apply a second coat to intensify the gilded look.
  • Feuille d’Or top coat can also be applied alone on bare nails for a 24 karat effect.

My Final Thought on the nail polishes in La Laque Couture Spicy Collection:

YSL never fail to impress me on their nail polish quality. The nail polishes are easy to apply; the brush are wide so it helps nail polish to be applied evenly and more easily. The shades are opaque in two coats and it does not feel thick when applied. Most YSL nail polishes last on my finger perfectly for about 3 days – I type everyday with my nails touching the keyboard and I do houseworks too. I am glad that YSL is always consistent with the formula of their nail polish. I can say that YSL is my favorite designer nail polish brand.

Chanel Spring 2013: Illusion d’Ombres in Diapasson & Le Vernis in Tapage Swatches

IMG_9196

After reading so many positive review on Diapasson, I finally decided to purchase this item. Diapasson is added to the permanent collection and it is a deep purple with very fine shimmer. I am a big fan of Chanel Illusion d’Ombre; I love the bouncy and smooth texture. The eyeshadow is so easy to apply and to blend and the pigmentation is superb!

IMG_9197

IMG_9199

Diapasson is a deep purple with duochrome effect. In certain light, I see it as a deep purple and sometime I see a hint of brown in it. In this picture, I couldn’t really capture the shimmer but you may see the fine shimmers in the next picture below. I applied two layers on the swatch below. The swatches below is taken outdoor with indirect sunlight.

IMG_9201

IMG_9200

I did a comparison of Diapasson and some other two Illusion d’Ombres that I think might look similar. They are Illusoire and Ebloui. The swatches below is taken under indoor lighting. The shimmers are captured better here.

Initially I thought Illusoire would look quite similar to Diapasson but it turned out that Illusoire looks much deeper and it has a deep grey tone in it too. Ebloui carries a plummy tone but it also leans more to brown shade.

IMG_9206

I also purchased the nail polish shade from this collection. Le Vernis Tapage looks like a very deep pink that leans towards red. I love Chanel red nail polish so I thought of adding this to my red nail polish collection. In the swatch below, I applied two coats of Tapage and I used Chanel Extreme Shine top coat.

Here’s a quick swatch of Tapage:

And there it goes my pick for Chanel Spring 2013! I have posted a short review of Chanel Quad in Quadrille and the Cream Blush in Intonation few days ago, you may read the post here.

So what is your pick from this collection?

Thank you for reading
