YSL Gloss Volupte Swatches

Hello hello!

First of all, let me wish you all a great 2014 ahead! We certainly wish that everything will go on smoothly this and more and more great things to come!

So here’s our first post in the year of 2014! YSL releases their new range of lip glosses. I am lucky enough to receive few shades of the lip glosses. The shades of the lip glosses consists of 3 ranges; irresistibly, sinfully iridescent, scandalously gold.  The information of YSL Gloss Volupte can be found here.

The packaging of these Gloss Volupte is similar to YSL Rouge Volupte. The cap of the lip gloss is made with golden metal and there’s a YSL logo in the middle which makes the packaging looks luxurious. As you can see in the picture above, the applicator is designed uniquely so that the application of the lipgloss is better. I like the design of  applicator as it looks distinct compared to other brands and it looks so cute to me. It resembles the shape of our lips. Moreover this applicator helps me to apply the gloss more precise on my lip and it gives me the ability to control the amount of glosses I want to have on my lip.

The gloss feels lightweight and it does not feel sticky to me. The shade 206 Twisted Oran is really pigmented. If  you are looking for a pigmented with daring shade, this would be a perfect lipgloss for you. For me, Rose Orfevre & Rose Fusion would be my favorite among the 4. Gloss Volupte does not have the shiniest gloss; it provides decent shine and it is not too much. This would depend on people’s preference whether you like a high shine gloss or just a decent shine. The last thing to add here, is that this gloss contains a unique YSL scent. The scent is the same as what it contains in YSL Rouge Volupte.

Here’s the swatches on my lips:

I have added a nude lipstick underneath the lipgloss on the photo below to show what it looks like when it is layered on top of nude lipstick.

So what is your pick from this collection? Share with me 🙂

I hope this swatches helps! Have a BEAUTIFUL year ahead…!

My First Post of “What is in My Current Make Up Bag?” – November Edition

image (2)

Hello everyone!

It’s my first “What is in My Current Make Up Bag?” post ever. I am so excited to write this post as these products are the ones I use regularly for my touch ups. I hope I would be able to post this regularly once every 2 months or so. So here are the products I currently have on my make up bag:

  • NARS Fairy’s Kiss Palette: This is the palette that I currently have on my make up bag. It has 6 versatile shades to be used for my day/night look. I did a review of this palette on my previous post. You may read the review HERE
  • Chanel Compact Mirror which I received from a friend. I am really glad that she gave me this mirror, I love how beautiful the red color is.
  • Urban Decay Naked FLUSHED palette: This is a genius palette which I love a lot. It is a complete three in one palette consisting of bronzer, blush and highlighter. The shade can be used nicely on people with either dark or light skin tone. I have done a detailed review HERE
  • YSL Touche Eclat: This is a must have product on my make up pouch. I use this product to highlight my browbone and as a corrector. Believe it or not, I have never changed this product from my make up bag for more than a year as I find this product is very useful as a touch up tool.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte powder: This is a relatively new product that I tried recently. So far this powder has works pretty well on me. It helps to control the oil in my T-zone area. I must admit that this powder is not the best powder I’ve tried but considering the price I paid, I am happy to repurchase this again.
  • Maybelline Rocket Mascara: This mascara is my current favorite mascara. It helps to lengthen my eyelash and at the same time it makes my lashes looks thicker. I have a short and rather droopy mascara and there are only few mascara that works for me. Maybelline Rocket mascara stays for the whole day for me without smudging. Moreover, cleaning this mascara is so easy! Warm water is all you need to clean all the mascara on the lashes.
  • Chanel Retractable Kabuki Brush: I love the softness of this brush. The hair are dense and this brush can be used as a blush brush, bronzer brush and even powder brush. It’s a perfect brush to be kept in my make up pouch. I have reviewed the product previously, you may read it HERE
  • YSL Glossy Stain in 101 Reckless Pink: What I love about YSL Glossy stain is the texture. The shade stays on for a long time (4-5 hours at least) and the I love the shine this lipstain has. I specially love shade “reckless pink” as it looks natural on my lip but the shine it has adds something more to my look. I have reviewed & swatched YSL Glossy Stain Rebel Nudes on one of my blogpost HERE
  • Chanel Rouge Allure in 88 Evanescente: This is a natural pinkish nude lipstick. I always rotate my nude lipstick shade every two weeks or every month. This is to make sure that all my nude lipsticks are well loved :p
  • Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner: hands down! This has got to be my all time fave liquid eyeliner. It has never fail to stay on my lid for the whole day without smudging. The brush size is nicely designed; it’s not too long and not too pointy, the size is just nice to apply line along my lash line. This eyeliner retails at SGD 20-25 (I can’t remember the exact price) at major drugstore in Singapore.
  • Last but not least, is a Chloe perfume miniature. This is one of my fave perfume and it’s always a pleasure to add a bit of smell after a long day at work.

Wah I just realized that I have quite a lot of things on my make up pouch 😉 Some of my friends have commented that I have so many things on my make up bag; however I enjoy bringing these make up on my bag. It’s a pleasure to do a touch up during lunch break or after work before dinner.

I’ll try to rotate the products in my make up bag and I hope that I’ll be able to write on this topic on a regular basis 🙂

Share with me on what you have on your make up bag, please 🙂

YSL Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain

Hello hello!

Today I have something very exciting to show you! It’s none other than YSL VERNIS À LÈVRES REBEL NUDES!

In 2012, YSL released a range of Glossy Stains which are highly raved among beauty enthusiasts. Following its success, YSL has just launched VERNIS À LÈVRES REBEL NUDES.

Act 2 of a major technological revolution.

For women who want to wear nude shades that are bolder, more radiant and vibrant than ever before, Yves Saint Laurent launches Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes.

Luminescent lip colour thanks to an exclusive new formula. Eight blinding nude shades: Nude Provocateur, Violine Out of Control, Corail Mutin, Fuchsia Tomboy… Because at Yves Saint Laurent, nudes are never boring. They are presented in multiple variations of colour and light. Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes affirm, define, underline. Colour becomes a luminous vibration, a wave loaded with all-new pearl pigments.

The new Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes are designed for a new generation of ultra
demanding beauty addicts who live life at high speed. Women who don’t want to hide behind ordinary, opaque make-up. Women who want sophistication without making an elaborate production of it. The technological complexity of the product fades behind the simplicity of its application.
There’s a right shade for ever woman. The most intense? N° 103 Pink No Taboo, N° 104 Fuchsia Tomboy and N° 108 Violine Out of Control, because nude doesn’t stop at beige. The most transparent? N° 101 Nude Provocateur, N° 106 Beige Anarchist and N° 107 Naughty Mauve. Women with fair skin should opt for the orange tones of N° 102 Corail Mutin or N° 105 Corail Hold Up, while those with darker skin can go with all these shades.

Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes are applied in one or two coats, depending on the desired effect. An even more intense result is obtained with a pencil.

Moisten lips well and blot away the excess with absorbent paper. Apply a first coat for a fresh, light, iridescent effect. Wait 20 seconds before reinforcing the colour and the effect with a second coat. And eventually blend lightly with a fingertip if you want to tone down the gloss effect and keep the ‘stain’ aspect.

‘‘Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes aren’t meant to be low-key. They’re
meant to exalt the lips. To make light vibrate through colour, in full transparency. It’s all
based on a new pearl finish exclusive to Yves Saint Laurent. The technological advance
makes it even possible to redefine the philosophy of nudes.’’

Creative Director Make-Up Yves Saint Laurent Beauté

For the occasion, Lloyd Simmonds has created eight variations for lips and nails, to dazzle and play up the look according to your mood with the radiant new Rouge Pur Couture Vernis à Lèvres Rebel Nudes shades and four iconic La Laque Couture shades. For the YSL woman, both singular and plural.
Provocative with Vernis à Lèvres N° 101 Nude Provocateur and La Laque Couture N° 22 Beige Léger.
Mischievous with Vernis à Lèvres N° 107 Naughty Mauve and La Laque Couture N° 22 Beige Léger.

No taboos with Vernis à Lèvres N° 103 Pink No Taboo and La Laque Couture N° 21 Taupe Rétro.

Mutinous with Vernis à Lèvres N° 102 Corail Mutin and La Laque Couture N° 21 Taupe Rétro.

Androgynous with Vernis à Lèvres N° 104 Fuchsia Tomboy and La Laque Couture N° 12 Rose Renaissance.
Anarchistic with Vernis à Lèvres N° 106 Beige Anarchist and La Laque Couture N° 12 Rose Renaissance.
Borderline with Vernis à Lèvres N° 105 Corail Hold Up and La Laque Couture N° 25 Rose Romantique.
Out of control with Vernis à Lèvres N° 108 Violine Out of Control and La Laque Couture N° 25 Rose Romantique.

Now let’s move onto the swatch

set 3

L108 VIOLINE OUT OF CONTROL – 109 Fuschia Fugitive – 103 PINK NO TABOO

When I receive the news that YSL is going to have rebel nude range, I feel very excited as I love nude lipstick a lot. There are tonnes of people who YSL glossy stain. I’ve tried few of the glossy stains from the previous collection before and I must admit that none of the previous shade works perfectly for me, mainly because the shades are often too bright for my daily use.

YSL Glossy Stain Rebel Nudes has the same packaging with the previous glossy stain. I love this range’s brush, it is unique and it feel so soft on the lip. The brush also makes the application very easy as it is pointed at the end and hence it’s easy to control.

What I love about YSL Rebel Nudes Glossy Stain is the finish. I love the natural shade on my lips and at the same time the shine it gives. It doesn’t make your lip looks pale, and actually it glams up the whole look because of the gloss.

The gloss doesn’t stay on my lips for long, it stays for about 2-3 hours only. However the color stays on for more than 6 hours.

Some people mentioned to me that they dislike the smell of YSL Glossy Stain. I have to agree on this part as somehow it could be quite strong.  On this part, i think it’s best to try it on the counter and decide if you like it. On my opinion, the scent is quite strong but it doesn’t hinders me to wear it often.

My favorite from this collection is 106 Beige Anarchist and 109 Fuchsia Fugitive. I love to wear Beige Anarchist to office and for my daily activity. Fuchsia Fugitive is a girly and lovely shade that I love to apply for a simple dinner date after work.

Final Thought:

Overall, YSL Rebel Nudes collection has satisfied my needs to have the right shade of YSL Glossy Stain. The gloss fits nicely on my lip;  it doesn’t look to shiny and at the same time it gives the lovely glow on your face.

Hope the review and swatches helps 🙂

Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss – Kiss You

Hi everyone!

I can’t believe its June already! Time flies… Anyway further to my post about Benefit’s new products (read here). I have ultra plush lip gloss in clear fuchsia (kiss you) to  show and tell.

When I received the package from the lovely team of Benefit Australia, I quite disappointed that they sent me this lip gloss in this shade. The color is totally not me and its very purple in the tube.

The packaging is very practical and very young feeling. This kind of lip gloss bring back memories to me. When I was in junior high school, all I wanted is fruity flavour glittery lip gloss in this kind of packaging.

The plushness is poutrageous! Our soft & silky glosses glide on sooo smooth, drenching lips in luscious color that’s never sticky. From crystal clear to hot pink, the luxurious formulas give your lips a kissable, sexy sheen.

Surprisingly, the color is not as scary as I thought it will be. I should have known its clear fuchsia, so its very sheen and light in my lips. And the best thing is it doesn’t have sticky feeling.

Picture above shown under natural lights while below picture shown in indoor lights.

Benefit Ultra Plush Lip Gloss available in 6 gorgeous shade and retail in Australia for $28.
