Dolce & Gabbana Natural Monica Voluptuous Lipstick

Hi everyone! its been a while since I posted lip products. Lip products such as lip gloss and lipstick used to be the only makeup I wear when I was at school but these days, I don’t wear it anymore. I tend too lazy to touch up since lipstick wear off very quickly.  But that doesn’t mean I stop buying them.  I have posted my new lip products in instagram but I just have to review D&G first. Not because it has my name on it (yay!!) but also this is a birthday gift from Meryl. If it wasn’t her, I wouldn’t know they are even existing.

What it is:
A highly pigmented lipstick that gives medium to full coverage in a radiant, satin finish.

What it does:
Thanks to an intense skin-conditioning formula, this lipstick leaves lips looking plump, feeling soft, and appearing voluptuous. The colors are rich and luminous, with a smooth and creamy texture that glides easily on the lips for buildable coverage. Inspired by Monica Bellucci, Dolce & Gabbana’s main muse, the Monica Lipstick embodies the sensuality of the Italian woman.

Information above extracted from Sephora website

I totally adore the packaging, of course because it has my name on it. Other than that, this lipstick also very light and very comfy to hold because its rounded shape not like Burberry’s lipsticks.

PicMonkey Collage

Texture wise, its very moisturizing. Its almost winter here in Sydney and I didn’t use any lip balm before hand, but it stay put and not drying my lips. It makes more sense in my FOTD picture later in the post.

Above is swatches of D&G, YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige, and Burberry Lip Cover in Cameo. All are very moisturizing but color wise, I prefer this D&G because like its name Natural Monica, it is very natural. Suitable for me who didn’t brave enough to wear bold color lipstick. Maybe someday I will!

Bottom line: In love with the packaging! Good texture and nice color too! but I guess many lip products with similar shade in cheaper price. This D&G retail for approx. AU$35.

Urban Decay – The Theodora & Glinda Palette

Hi everyone…

I know this might be a very very late review but better than nothing right? and the good thing is, The Glinda palette is still available in though I can’t see Theodora anymore 🙁

Both palettes comes with 6 eyeshadows which 2 of those are duo-color, so makes that 8 shades in total. Then an eye pencil and a lip color. It also comes with the instructions how to get Theodora/Glinda look.

Let’s start with The Theodora Palette first;  the colors are more in my comfort zone and it consists of six brand eyeshadows which two are duo-shades (never-before-seen!!), black eye pencil and Theodora super-saturated high-gloss lip color (red color).

Bottom line: eyeshadow and eyeliner are very wearable, colors are very pigmented and the eyeliner is very soft and smooth. I didn’t experience much fall out but unfortunately red lip color doesn’t suit me at all.

Now time to show The Glinda Palette; I have a bit of doubt with this one because it is not the color I used to wear tho the palette looks very pretty and girly ;p but I’m more a “neutral” person. It also consists of 6 eyeshadows which 2 are duo-shades, Purple eye pencil and Glinda Super-saturated high-gloss lip color (nude color).

Bottom line: I did experience fall out but eyeshadow primer fixed this issues. I really do love the purple eye pencil from the color (much nicer than picture above) and the texture. The eyeshadow turned out really good too. On top of that the lip color is wearable for me.

Last but not least, my look wearing both palettes. PS: I didn’t go out looking like this. If you wondering :p

I’m a team Glinda at the end but I also happy with Theodora palette. Such a difficult decision to make if you have to choose one. That’s why I ended up buying both. Anyway great texture, pigmentation and most importantly good value.

Hope this review useful! Thanks for reading and have a great week ahead !!

Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipstick in Natural

Hello everyone,

I am so excited to show you my new lipstick from Dolce & Gabbana, it is the Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipstick in Natural. I have seen this lipstick in few beauty blogs such as The Beauty Look Book & The Black Panties. Recently Saks Fifth Avenue had free shipping to countries in Asia, so when I saw this lipstick I knew I had to get it.

There are few colors that I am lemming for, but for my first purchase I will stick to a safe shade. I choose Natural because I know that shade won’t goes wrong. So let me show you what this lipstick looks like 🙂

The Packaging:

Dolce & Gabbana Passion Duo Gloss Fusion Lipstick comes in a slender, reflecting case in a gold color. The case feels heavy and it looks luxurious. I really like the Dolce & Gabbana writing on the lipstick. This lipstick’s packaging is slightly longer than most of my lipstick such as Chanel Rouge Allure/Rouge Coco and Dior Extreme Lipstick.

The Texture:

Before I am talking about the texture, I just want to mention the look of this lipstick from the top of the tube. This lipstick looks so adorable; its outer rim is a rich cream color and the inner rim is a sheerer color wich supposed to be the gloss. I am deeply in love with this idea of mixing a rich cream color with a gloss together. The result is a gorgeous looking lipstick on the tube with a gorgeous formula.

As the name says, this lipstick is a fusion of the classic rich cream color and a glossy lipstick. The pigmentation of this lipstick is not as pigmented as cream lipstick such as Chanel Rouge Allure , but it is way more pigmented than Rouge Coco Shine. I would say the pigmentation of this lipstick suits for ladies who wants a nice glow on their lips without being too much. This lipstick is also very creamy, moisturizing and does not peel my lips. This lipstick lasts on me for only about 3 hours ( I drink quite often everyday) and I would need to re-apply this lipstick again. I don’t have any issues with the lasting power as I am happy to re-apply this lipstick again. It makes me happy to open the lipstick cap and see that cute double rim shape 🙂

The Swatches/ The Look:

Final Thought:

Overall I am very satisfied that I have acquired this lipstick. This lipstick as a unique formulation in a luxurious packaging. The color pay off is suitable for ladies who loves nude/natural looking lips.

Have you tried any D&G lipstick before? What’s your opinion?

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Swatches & Review

Lipstick launches always excites me especially when it’s shiny and last long on my lips. YSL is famous with many of their lip products for its wide ranges of color, creamy texture and the beautiful packaging. I received this beautifully packed lipsticks. There are 5 beautiful colors here, the reds and the plums. Keep reading to know more about what I think of YSL Volupte Shine!

The packaging:

YSL Rouge Volupte shine has the same packaging as the YSL Rouge Volupte. It’s one of the prettiest lipstick design I have ever owned. The YSL logo in the middle is just gorgeous and it looks timeless. The gold color packaging is very prone to finger print, but nonetheless the packaging is just beautiful!

The Reds

The Plums:

The Texture and Pigmentation:

YSL Volupte shine glides beautifully on my lips. The application is easy, it does not make any mess on my lips. The pigmentation is lovely, the color shows up beautifully on my lip in just one swipe. In two swipes, the color looks perfect. The finished looks shiny on the lips but it does not look sheer at all. It’s a nice shiny and pigmented color. Whatever color you look in the tube, it would look like that on your lips.

 No12 Corail Incandescent

No 6 Pink in Devotion

No 13 Pink in Paris

No 19 Fuschia in Rage

No 3 Violet Incognito

Lasting Power:

The lasting power is amazing. It stays on my lip for 6 hours; the shine faded but not the color. For ladies who don’t want the hassle of reapplying lip color, YSL Rouge Volupte Shine provides what you need. However I found a little downside of YSL Rouge Volupte Shine. Although it’s pigmented and lasts for long, it left a stain on my lips for pretty long. I have tried to remove the lipstick with my lip make up remover but the stain is still there for few hours.

Final Thought:

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine provides a great pigmentation and shine throughout the whole day. The color range is very wide too (You can see the lists of the color here) For ladies who like shiny lips, I highly recommend this range! 🙂

L’Oreal Shine Caresse Swatch & Comparison

Shine Caresse’s ultra-light fluid texture immediately melts onto the lips for a long-lasting moist-look effect combined with completely unprecedented comfort and freshness. Redefines shine with an all new sensation of soft, moist lips.

The secret: an exceptionally high concentration of moisture thanks to a unique formula made with 30% water and 60% oil for unprecedented freshness.

Shine Caresse:

• a soft, moist-look effect
• light, luminous shine
• long-lasting hold
• a sensation of fresh moisturization

A feather-shaped applicator

The Shine Caresse foam applicator leaves the lips with a light, subtle luster thanks
to a tiny hole in the center designed to remove excess color as you apply it.
Taking the form of a feather, the applicator shapes itself to your lips for easy, one-step application without a mirror. The feather-shaped applicator accentuates the shiny, comfortable, non-sticky qualities of the texture.

Now onto my own pictures and review!

I received these 7 colors recently during the preview media launch. I have read few beauty blogs that mentioned Shine Caresse is very similar to YSL Glossy Stains. I am so excited to try whether this is the real dupe of YSL Glossy Stains 🙂 Please keep reading if you want to know.

There will be 8 shades of L’Oreal Shine Caresse in Singapore. I only have 7 colors with me, I missed 606 Eve. The color range of Shine Caresse ranges from nudes, soft pinks, coral and reds. The packaging is in a gold color which looks very sleek and nice.

Swatches of the softer shades:

Swatches of the bolder shades:

Texture & Smell:

L’Oreal Caresse has a glossy finish. The pigmentation of Shine Caresse is not as pigmented as what I would have expected. At the swatches above, I applied two layers. As you can see, even with two layers, some of the colors are still sheer. What I love about Shine Caresse is that these products does not leave a sticky feeling, It has a jelly like finish. Moreover the smell of Shine Caresse is not strong, not something that would annoys me.

Comparison with YSL Glossy Stain:

In terms of texture, I can feel that there’s a slight difference between them. YSL Glossy Stains sinks in better than Shine Caresse. As you can see in the swatch above, YSL Glossy Stain is more pigmented than L’Oreal Shine Caresse. I find that Shine Caresse is more moisturizing and it doesn’t peel off my lip. YSL Glossy stain has better pigmentation but the texture makes my lips peel. Another thing that differentiates these two is the scent. Shine Caresse has a softer scent which is a WIN thing for me. YSL Glossy Stain scent is way too strong for me which I dislike.

Looking at the brush shape, L’Oreal Shine Caresse has a longer and rounder shape of brush, whereas YSL Glossy Stain has a more pointed shape. I personally prefer YSL’s more pointed shape brush. It helps me to apply the color more neatly and more evenly. However, since L’Oreal Shine Caresse  has lesser pigmentation, I don’t have issues the brush shape.

Final Thought:

Overall I think L’Oreal Shine Caresse is really worth checking. I personally love the jelly like texture, the shine, the finish and the non strong smell. The color range is also not bad, I can find soft shades and bold shades. It’s weird to say this because I usually love sheer and nude colors but Shine Caresse bold colors shouts to me louder, they look much better than the sheerer one. My favorite shade from this collection is 603 Milady and 801 Princess. They show up very well on me 🙂

L’Oreal Shine Caresse will be retailing at $18.90 in February 2013
