Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune for Holiday 2015

You know we are nearing to the end of the year when beauty brands have started releasing the holiday collections. One of the brands that always catches my attention is Shu Uemura; every holiday seasons, Shu Uemura never fails to surprise me with the exciting collaboration. This year they have made another exciting collaboration with French designer Maison Kitsune.

The collection gives me a fresh spring vibes rather than Christmas’ party vibes. It’s interesting to see a brand releasing something rather unusual compared to other brands in the market. In this collection I am looking at lovely combination between pastel shades and deeper shades, and nothing too bold for me to wear.

In this blogpost, I have the Beauty Remix Smokey Eye & Cheek Palette in Plum.

A fun palette to play around and create an unusual smokey eyes. The palette has a mixture of plummy shade and orange-y shades. The colors are fun to create a young energetic look! In general, the shades has good texture especially the pearl texture. I found some fallouts especially on the glittery shades though, so I try to be more careful when applying the glittery shades.

The blush is a major surprise for me! It looks rather scary in the pan (screams: ORANGE!) but surprisingly it looks very wearable on my cheek. It looks peachy on my cheek and can also be worn as a contour cum blush to me.

Now onto the Drawing Pencil, here I have the plum and indigo. I love the color payoff of these two and how these are able to last on my lash line for a good 6 hours without smudging! The special Maison Kitsune design on the pencil is adorable too, I love the golden stamps details there.

The Laque Sparkler is one of the winner in this collection! I love how beautiful the color is and how opaque the color is on my lip. It takes me about two layers to get full opacity on my lip. Here I have the shade Plum Shimmer – a deep pink that leans towards red. It’s non drying on my lips and I like that I don’t need to retouch the color even after plenty glasses of water. It stains on my lip for a while, so at the end of the day I would clean my lip with lip make up remover.

a Shu Uemura collection wouldn’t be complete without the cleansing oil. In Maison Kitsune x Shu Uemura collection, the clensing oil released is from the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil. By far this is my favorite cleansing oil! I’ve been using this range for a few years and Ultime8 range still secures a top spot in my heart. The oil is rich and it’s ultra moisturising, my skin feels well hydrated after my cleansing regime with Ultime8 range.

I have created a look using the Beauty Remix Palette in Plum and I am wearing Laque Sparkler in Plum Shimmer below

The collections is now widely available in all Shu Uemura boutiques and counter in Singapore

Dior Fluid Stick in 575 Wonderland and 669 Rose Tricheuse

It’s a lippie day! Dior launched Fluid Stick few weeks ago in ION Orchard and all the hype has been going around. I went to check out the colors and fell in love immediately with the texture and the finish on my lips.

Dior fluid stick is a hybrid lip product – the opacity and the pigmentation of this product resembles lipstick and the it has the glossy finish of a gloss.

Dior Addict Fluid Stick enables a flawless application in a single sweep: the high-impact colour and long wear of a classic lipstick, combined with the shine of a gloss, all in a thin film that delivers sensational comfort. Colour and shine come together as one for maximum impact with intense, long-wearing lip stain pigments directly encapsulated in spheres of gloss. Dior Addict Fluid Stick does not contain wax, but water for maximum lightness, an immediate fresh effect and addictive comfort

Dior Fluid Stick is packaged in a beautiful and luxurious glass packaging which has a similar cap to Dior Addict Gloss. There’s a transparent part of the packaging which allows you to see the color of each gloss.

Dior Fluid Stick can give sheer finish and also a full opacity finish. if I wish to have sheer finish, I will apply one layer and spread it all over my lip. In this way, the gloss is visible but the color is less opaque. I personally prefer to use Fluid Stick with full opacity to reveal the true color of the product. The product contains high gloss finish. This product is also very friendly to dry lips. It does not emphasize my dry lips nor it does not shows any flakiness of my lips while it’s dry.

The brush of Fluid stick comes with a sponge applicator. It is rather big for a lipgloss / liquid lipstick product, but it does help the application to be smooth. It has a pointed tip at the end of the brush to help a more precise application.

IMG_9517.jpg I picked shade 575 Wonderland and 669 Rose Tricheuse. I am surprised that I am picking up these two shades as they look very bright. If you have been reading my post for a while, I have always preferred to use soft pink or nude lipstick over red and bright orange. I had been looking around for the right bright coloured lips shade for me and I know I have found it! Dior Fluid Stick has made me feel confident wearing bold shades like these.

Here’s the swatch of 575 Wonderland on my lips. Wonderland is a bright red pink.

and here’s 669 Rose Tricheuse – I find this shade leans more towards orangey red but it is more wearable than Wonderland.

This is certainly a great lipstick range from Dior especially for the bright shades. I have not tried any shade from the nude-ish range but so far the bright shades didn’t disappoints me. The gloss and the finish brighten ups my complexion. These shades lasts on me for about 2-3 hours before it begins to fade. I find that these stains a bit on my lip – so I’ll make sure that I clean it with lip remover on the end of every day.

Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato Swatches

It’s time for me to write a simple thought on one of the most talked about products this season in beauty blogosphere. This spring, Shu Uemura is launching Tint in Gelato. Tint in Gelato is a one stop product for both cheek and lip. Tint in Gelato comes in 12 shades in 4 different shades category. The shades category are PK for Pink, CR for Coral, AT for unique shades, and BG for beige.

The picture above was the same picture I use in Mika for Shu post which I post previously here.

Tint in Gelato comes in a silver tube glass packaging with a see through glass for us to see how much products we have left. Like most Shu Uemura product, I like the simple and sleek design of this product. Although it is simple, the product still looks nice and classy.

The applicator of tint in gelato is rounded with a small hole in the middle. What I like about the applicator is that the applicator feels more flexible, making my application on my lip seems better. It spreads the color nicely on my lip.

Tint in Gelato comes in a mousse texture that makes it feels creamy. It is very smooth and it is very well pigmented. The color pops nicely in one layer. The finish of Tint in Gelato is a semi matte finish. However to get an even color on my lip, I like to apply two thin layers. The applicator is a fine tools to be used for my lip. On my cheek, I usually dab the applicator onto my cheek and blend it with my finger.

This product typically last up to 5 hours on my cheek. While on my lip, they stay put for about 3 hours ( i drink a lot), but the stronger shade will usually leave a stain and the stain can go a long way especially when I reapply the product one more time.

Here are the swatches on my lip. This is Pk03; it is a cool toned bubblegum pink. I like to use this shade on my cheek more than on my lip. On my cheek, it brightens my entire face. However I feel that this shade emphasises my dry lips; so to tackle this issue, I’ll apply a thin layer of lip balm before applying this.

And here’s CR01, a lovely coral shade. I love this shade as it looks nice on both my lips and my cheek. I have this on my make up bag as it is a to go product for both cheek and lips.

Here’s the full swatches of all the 12 shades

Tint in Gelato is available in Singapore and retailing at $38

In this post, I have 7 shades to be swatched on the back of my hand  and I picked 4 shades to be swatched on my lip below.

YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush is pigmented and true to color when swatched on the back of my hand; however when it is applied on my lip, it got quite hard to control due to the thickness of the applicator. It shows up quite sheer for the first layer, and to get the opaque color on my lip, I applied another layer. I  would recommend using a lip brush to get a more even pigmentation and neater application especially for bolder color. While on my cheek, I like to dab in three dots on my cheek and blend it out (shown on the picture below – taken from YSL press information). I have tried blending the product with my fingers and brush; I like to spread the color with my finger first and then blending it out with brush. I am using Tom Ford Cream Foundation brush (02) or Koyudo fupa02 brush for to blend the color.

What I like about the texture of this lip & blush is that is doesn’t makes my lip feel dry. I have tried some other product which can be used for both lip and cheek which is very drying, but this is not the case for YSL Baby Doll. It feels fine on my lip – not fully moisturising but definitely not drying.

The finish of YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush looks velvety to me; they are not fully matte nor glossy to me. The swatches on my lip in the pictures below are  my favorite  shades from this range so far. I am not really into bold lip color usually but #5 Rouge Effrontee has got into my favorite shades list from this range.

On the lasting power, I find that it varies among the colors. Some shade stays longer on my lip & cheek while other fades more quickly. YSL baby doll left a stain on my lip and cheek – On the cheek, the shade fades after 4-5 hours, but the stain looks more obvious on my lip and the stain stays on my lip for a longer time. On my lip, the stain lasts for more than 5 hours.
