Shu Uemura The Lightbulb fluid foundation

I didn’t even remember when was the last time I bought myself a foundation. Once I have one that I like, I will use it for quite some time. Anyway after seeing so many good reviews through Instagram, I finally decided to go to Shu Uemura counter and try it myself.

My latest foundation addition is Shu Uemura the lightbulb fluid foundation (27ml), retail in Australia for 65AUD and the sponge sold separately which I decided not to get it.

when seeking higher coverage, natural glow tends to be lost… but, now, paradoxical benefits coexist thanks to shu uemura’s expertise in oil technology and an original carefully hand-finished sponge. tap the foundation with the sponge and discover

 - natural glow yet high coverage
– long-lasting moisture yet exquisite fit

 12h moisture, mineral pigments

the unprecedented combination of the lightbulb foundation and the all-new sponge empowers you to glow under any light.

allergy tested

- tested under dermatological control – suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin – non-comedogenic – tested on Asian women

It comes with a pump which I thought very essential in a foundation for easy access. Below are all the liquid foundations that I have, not including compact foundations. Seeing my little collections, I feel like buying more foundations now. Any recommendation?

For texture, I would say its quite thicker compare to GA & Chanel PL but not as thick as Chanel VA. I would also say this one is medium coverage.

Lastly, my face with Shu Uemura lightbulb foundation and powder only. I agree it gives me a natural glow as they claimed it. However, I suggest to visit the counter and asked the MUA to try it on your face. That’s what I did before buying foundations :)

Overall, one of my favorite foundation at the moment beside Chanel PL.

Dolce & Gabbana Natural Monica Voluptuous Lipstick

Hi everyone! its been a while since I posted lip products. Lip products such as lip gloss and lipstick used to be the only makeup I wear when I was at school but these days, I don’t wear it anymore. I tend too lazy to touch up since lipstick wear off very quickly.  But that doesn’t mean I stop buying them.  I have posted my new lip products in instagram but I just have to review D&G first. Not because it has my name on it (yay!!) but also this is a birthday gift from Meryl. If it wasn’t her, I wouldn’t know they are even existing.

What it is:
A highly pigmented lipstick that gives medium to full coverage in a radiant, satin finish.

What it does:
Thanks to an intense skin-conditioning formula, this lipstick leaves lips looking plump, feeling soft, and appearing voluptuous. The colors are rich and luminous, with a smooth and creamy texture that glides easily on the lips for buildable coverage. Inspired by Monica Bellucci, Dolce & Gabbana’s main muse, the Monica Lipstick embodies the sensuality of the Italian woman.

I totally adore the packaging, of course because it has my name on it. Other than that, this lipstick also very light and very comfy to hold because its rounded shape not like Burberry’s lipsticks.

Texture wise, its very moisturizing. Its almost winter here in Sydney and I didn’t use any lip balm before hand, but it stay put and not drying my lips. It makes more sense in my FOTD picture later in the post.

Above is swatches of D&G, YSL Rouge Volupte in Nude Beige, and Burberry Lip Cover in Cameo. All are very moisturizing but color wise, I prefer this D&G because like its name Natural Monica, it is very natural. Suitable for me who didn’t brave enough to wear bold color lipstick. Maybe someday I will!

Bottom line: In love with the packaging! Good texture and nice color too! but I guess many lip products with similar shade in cheaper price. This D&G retail for approx. AU$35.

Burberry Complete Eye Palette in 01 Smokey Grey

Hi everyone, I haven’t post anything since I came back from holiday because work has been very busy lately unfortunately and I am trying my best to stay away from the computer after 9 to 10 hours staring on it in the office. I got this beauty back in December right before my holiday.

I don’t fancy this palette in the first place but when I see it in person, I changed my mind. Aiming for the plum pink or dark spice but David Jones completely out of stock with only two left in Smokey grey and Pink Taupe. Pink taupe is pretty in the pan but I’m afraid the color washed out in my skin tone and the MUA told me one of the shade is pale barley in that palette and I have that already in my stash. With a sad face I settled with Smokey grey.

This palette comes with 3 little brushes, I wish they fit the brushes inside the palette. Packaging are similar or should I say identical with the blush but this palette is lighter than the blush.

I love how they have 2 shimmers eyeshadow and 2 matte in this palette. For the formula of this palette is similar with the single eyeshadow, buttery and pigmented just how I like it :) On top of that the pattern in the shadows are incredible.

Smokey grey is not bad after all, its good for a change in my stash hehehe… Finally the swatches of the complete eye palette under natural lights.

And last but not least is my take on this palette. I tried it this morning to work, and I love the look! It’s not too much for everyday look as I thought it will be.. The picture didn’t captured the beautiful shades of this palette as these taken in hurry with iPhone :p I’m sure smokey palette will work for everyone!

Thanks for reading! During my trip I also managed to get Dark Spice yay! Review coming soon…

xx Monica

YSL Summer Look 2012 Pure Chromatics #8 Earthy and Eye Pencil in #8 Luminescent Gold

Summer is almost over but this does not stop me from buying summer make up. If you have been following us on instagram (@memoiselle) , I have posted photos from my Jakarta trip. I went back last week for my grandma’s birthday and I bought few items during my trip. I bought Pure Chromatics #8 Earthy, Eye Pencil #8 Luminescent Gold, YSL Touche Eclat and YSL Rouge Volupte in #7. 2 of the products I bought are part of YSL Summer Look 2012. Not everything I show here are mine, some are my mom’s :)

I have reviewed YSL Rouge Volupte #7 Pink Lingerie in my previous post. In this post I am going to review the Pure Chromatics and the Eye Pencil. This post is going to be picture heavy :)

Pure Chromatics #8 Earthy

Pure Chromatics eyeshadow can be used wet and dry. That’s the reason why I love this range. #8 Earthy consists of 4 shimmering color. I like 3 colors from this pan. The upper left color is a nice color that can be used as a base. It’s a nice neutral color that won’t look too much for my skin (MAC NC20). The upper right color is the color that I least liked from this pan. It’s just a shimmering color that can be used as a highlight. The lower left color is very pretty too. This can be used as a base for a darker skin tone color or as a crease color for a fairer skintone. My favorite color from this palette is the lower right color, it’s a gorgeous khaki shade. I am surely using this to create a soft smoky look. The color is great for smokey look as this is not too dark for a daily use.

I swatched both dry and wet for you to see. The color shows much better when it’s swatched wet. Look at the pretty khaki color :)

Eye Pencil in #8 Luminescent Gold

At first I was not impressed by the color of this eyeliner. But after trying it on my inner corner, I gave up and get this one. In my opinion, great eyeliner must be soft, pigmented, smudge proof, waterproof and last for more than 6 hours. This eyeliner is very soft and pigmented, the color shows up easily. It only need one swipe to show the gorgeous color it has. Sadly this is not smudge proof; I swiped this on my hand and I smudged it after 3 minutes and I can see that some colors are scattered.

Then I did a waterproof test on this eyeliner. This product scores very well on this. I took this picture on my sink after I did the smudge test and you can see that the color stays there, it does not smudge because of water.

On the picture below, I am using #8 Luminescent Gold on my inner corner.

I am not going to review the touche eclat this time as it is my mum’s so I could not use it for few times before writing a review.

Anyway I am going to show my FOTD on my grandma’s bday. I curled my hair on special occasions and thought I would love to share the picture with you.

Products used:

Base Makeup: Avene Sunblock, YSL Touche Eclat in shade #2, MAC pressed powder in NC20

Eyes: Urban Decay Primer Potion, Urban Decay NAKED Palette, L’Oreal Infallible in Eternal Black, Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in black, Lancome Eyebrow Pencil, Ardell False Eyelash in Daisy Black.

Cheeks: Burberry Summer Glow, Lunasol Glowing Powder Cheeks in EX03 Pure Coral Pink

Lip: Chanel Rouge Coco in #20 Rose Comete and Chanel Glossimer in #151 Aragonite

If you like YSL Pure Chromatics, I have previously reviewed YSL Pure Chromatics in No 3 , that’s a gorgeous palette too :)

So can you guess which product(s) belong to me and which one(s) belong to my mum? :p

I am very happy I can share this long post with you. I hope you enjoy this post. Leave me a comment below to let me know what you think :)

FOTD with Suqqu Himesango and Orange Lips

Today I am feeling like using my only orange lipstick (usually I am not comfortable with orange lips) and pair it with my Suqqu Himesango eyeshadow palette. In this look, I am emphasizing on my neutral eye looks and cheek. Orange lip can sometimes be difficult to pair with certain eye color, but with neutral eye colors, you can’t go wrong.

The products I am using here is very simple, you don’t need too many make up products to get this look.

Eyes:

NARS Smudge Proof Eye Primer

Suqqu Himesango

Lancome Artliner

Lancome Hypnose Mascara

I applied NARS Smudge Proof eye primer all over my eyelid. Then I applied the taupe color from my Suqqu Himesango palette all over my eyelid with eye sponge. I want taupe to be the color all over my lid; however to make it look nicer, I applied pink eyeshadow from that palette on 1/3 of my inner corner lid. I also applied the dark purple eyeshadow on my outer corner, this is to create gradation on my eyelook. Then I blend all the colors together with my MAC 217 blending brush.

Cheek:

MAC Blush in Peaches

Since I am not emphasizing on the cheeks, I applied a thin layer of blush to keep it simple.

Lip:

Chanel Rouge Coco in Sari Dore #76

Chanel Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss in Genie #52

Thank you for reading and have a good day :)
