What to buy this Christmas? Marc Jacobs Sky-Liner Seven Piece Petite might be the answer!

Today’s post would be on one of my latest purchase which makes me so excited to share the pictures and my thoughts with all of you. This is Marc Jacobs Sky-Liner Seven Piece Petite.  I purchased this last week in Sephora ION when they start selling the holiday gift sets.

I have been loving Marc Jacobs highliner since the first time I tried it. It’s so hard for me to find my HG eyeliner as most brands always smudges on me. MJ highliners is one of the very few eyeliners I’ve tried and has never failed on me. My job requires me to work outdoor occasionally, and when this happen, I have to remember that MJ highliner has to be the one I am using that day, or else my eye make up would be ruined due to smudging eyeliner.

So when I knew MJ is going to release this petite highliners set, I knew I have to get it. This highliners consists of 7 mini eyeliners. What I love about this mini highliners is that the packaging stays the same; the only difference is only the size. It’s great that I don’t need to sharpen this mini highliners and I can just twist it whenever I need to use it.

It comes in a box where I can re-use the box whenever I want to. The box comes in a simple design – just sleek black and it’s a light weight box. It’s very prone to finger prints though, so it kinda amuse me when I wanted to take this photo I had to clean it first (well.. although it doesn’t look that perfectly clean)

Here are there shades available shades in this box (description is taken from Sephora website)

  • O(Vert): forest green
  • Brown(out) : bronze with shimmer
  • Sunset : golden bronze shimmer
  • Midnight in Paris : inky indigo blue
  • Th(ink) : deep navy
  • (Plum)age : vivid purple
  • Blacquer: black

Below is the swatch for these highliners

O(Vert) – Brown(out) – Sunset – Midnight in Paris – Th(ink) : deep navy – (Plum)age – Blacquer

I would say that this set is worth getting. Each mini highliner contains 0.37g, whereas the full size contains 0.5g of product. The mini highliners contains more than half amount of product you are getting the full sized product. I can’t remember the exact price of this set, but it’s definitely not costing you three times the full size product. It’s indeed worth your every cent.

Looking at all the colors provided, I think I would use almost all shades in this set. The only color I don’t see my self wearing too often would be Sunset, but it’s no harm trying out new look with this shade. The rest of the shades looks very wearable on daily use.

**edit: This set is going on for SGD 69 and the single full sized eyeliner is going for SGD 36.

I believe this are still available in Sephora Singapore, do grab them before it’s gone!

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil – Review and Swatches

When there’s not enough time for me to create an eye look with eyeshadow, Eyeliner comes as the choice for me to create a look to step up my look. There were so many times that I decided to try new pencil eyeliner and eventually it disappoints me because of its staying power and the mess it has on my eyes because of smudging.

Shu Uemura has recently launched a new and improved range of eyeliner which is called as Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil. Recently I was given a chance to try these and I have been giving it a test for a while, so here it is!

Here I have shade:

  • ME purple 71: Metallic eggplant (Metallic)
  • M chestnut brown 81: Warm, classic brown (Matte)

Texture and Pigmentation

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil has a soft texture. What I like about this drawing pencil is how it easily sets on my eyelid. It glides on smoothly and the color sets of pretty quickly – even on waterline. The color comes out perfectly on the first glide too.

Staying Power

I think the staying power for Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil deserves more attention. I have been using Shu Uemura drawing pencil for the past one week and the result has been consistent so far. The eyeliner is smudge free, budge free and it stays for long hours. I have been trying many pencil eyeliners and it includes the previous Shu Uemura eyeliners – they did not work on me. But the newly reformulated Shu Uemura drawing pencil has changed my perception on pencil eyeliner, they can be smudge free for long hours. Typically this stay smudge free for about 4 hours (please note that non liquid eyeliner usually only stays for about two hours on my lid)

Metallic or Matte?

In general, both of them performs equally well. But in terms of pigmentation and staying power; matte shade has better pigmentation and staying power. Metallic shades are perfectly smudge free and budge free but the staying power is slightly lesser (typically about an hour less than the matte shade).

Final Thought:

I highly recommend Shu Uemura drawing pencil for its long wearing hours and its smudge free formula. If you have ever felt hopeless with eyeliner before, give this a try! It’s been quite long since I have given a try for non liquid eyeliner and it works this time (yay!)

My First Post of “What is in My Current Make Up Bag?” – November Edition

image (2)

Hello everyone!

It’s my first “What is in My Current Make Up Bag?” post ever. I am so excited to write this post as these products are the ones I use regularly for my touch ups. I hope I would be able to post this regularly once every 2 months or so. So here are the products I currently have on my make up bag:

  • NARS Fairy’s Kiss Palette: This is the palette that I currently have on my make up bag. It has 6 versatile shades to be used for my day/night look. I did a review of this palette on my previous post. You may read the review HERE
  • Chanel Compact Mirror which I received from a friend. I am really glad that she gave me this mirror, I love how beautiful the red color is.
  • Urban Decay Naked FLUSHED palette: This is a genius palette which I love a lot. It is a complete three in one palette consisting of bronzer, blush and highlighter. The shade can be used nicely on people with either dark or light skin tone. I have done a detailed review HERE
  • YSL Touche Eclat: This is a must have product on my make up pouch. I use this product to highlight my browbone and as a corrector. Believe it or not, I have never changed this product from my make up bag for more than a year as I find this product is very useful as a touch up tool.
  • Rimmel Stay Matte powder: This is a relatively new product that I tried recently. So far this powder has works pretty well on me. It helps to control the oil in my T-zone area. I must admit that this powder is not the best powder I’ve tried but considering the price I paid, I am happy to repurchase this again.
  • Maybelline Rocket Mascara: This mascara is my current favorite mascara. It helps to lengthen my eyelash and at the same time it makes my lashes looks thicker. I have a short and rather droopy mascara and there are only few mascara that works for me. Maybelline Rocket mascara stays for the whole day for me without smudging. Moreover, cleaning this mascara is so easy! Warm water is all you need to clean all the mascara on the lashes.
  • Chanel Retractable Kabuki Brush: I love the softness of this brush. The hair are dense and this brush can be used as a blush brush, bronzer brush and even powder brush. It’s a perfect brush to be kept in my make up pouch. I have reviewed the product previously, you may read it HERE
  • YSL Glossy Stain in 101 Reckless Pink: What I love about YSL Glossy stain is the texture. The shade stays on for a long time (4-5 hours at least) and the I love the shine this lipstain has. I specially love shade “reckless pink” as it looks natural on my lip but the shine it has adds something more to my look. I have reviewed & swatched YSL Glossy Stain Rebel Nudes on one of my blogpost HERE
  • Chanel Rouge Allure in 88 Evanescente: This is a natural pinkish nude lipstick. I always rotate my nude lipstick shade every two weeks or every month. This is to make sure that all my nude lipsticks are well loved :p
  • Dolly Wink Liquid Eyeliner: hands down! This has got to be my all time fave liquid eyeliner. It has never fail to stay on my lid for the whole day without smudging. The brush size is nicely designed; it’s not too long and not too pointy, the size is just nice to apply line along my lash line. This eyeliner retails at SGD 20-25 (I can’t remember the exact price) at major drugstore in Singapore.
  • Last but not least, is a Chloe perfume miniature. This is one of my fave perfume and it’s always a pleasure to add a bit of smell after a long day at work.

Wah I just realized that I have quite a lot of things on my make up pouch ;) Some of my friends have commented that I have so many things on my make up bag; however I enjoy bringing these make up on my bag. It’s a pleasure to do a touch up during lunch break or after work before dinner.

I’ll try to rotate the products in my make up bag and I hope that I’ll be able to write on this topic on a regular basis :)

Share with me on what you have on your make up bag, please :)

Urban Decay – The Theodora & Glinda Palette

Hi everyone…

I know this might be a very very late review but better than nothing right? and the good thing is, The Glinda palette is still available in BeautyBay.com though I can’t see Theodora anymore :(

Both palettes comes with 6 eyeshadows which 2 of those are duo-color, so makes that 8 shades in total. Then an eye pencil and a lip color. It also comes with the instructions how to get Theodora/Glinda look.

Let’s start with The Theodora Palette first;  the colors are more in my comfort zone and it consists of six brand eyeshadows which two are duo-shades (never-before-seen!!), black eye pencil and Theodora super-saturated high-gloss lip color (red color).

UDT1

UDT3

UDT2

UDT4

UDT6

UDT5

Bottom line: eyeshadow and eyeliner are very wearable, colors are very pigmented and the eyeliner is very soft and smooth. I didn’t experience much fall out but unfortunately red lip color doesn’t suit me at all.

Now time to show The Glinda Palette; I have a bit of doubt with this one because it is not the color I used to wear tho the palette looks very pretty and girly ;p but I’m more a “neutral” person. It also consists of 6 eyeshadows which 2 are duo-shades, Purple eye pencil and Glinda Super-saturated high-gloss lip color (nude color).

UDG1

UDG2

UDG3

UDG4

UDG5

UDG6

UDG7

Bottom line: I did experience fall out but eyeshadow primer fixed this issues. I really do love the purple eye pencil from the color (much nicer than picture above) and the texture. The eyeshadow turned out really good too. On top of that the lip color is wearable for me.

Last but not least, my look wearing both palettes. PS: I didn’t go out looking like this. If you wondering :p

UD EOTD

I’m a team Glinda at the end but I also happy with Theodora palette. Such a difficult decision to make if you have to choose one. That’s why I ended up buying both. Anyway great texture, pigmentation and most importantly good value.

Hope this review useful! Thanks for reading and have a great week ahead !!

Uk Trip Haul :D

Hello guys!

I have been shopping a lot during the holiday! UK has plenty of makeup brands that I could not find in Singapore and I took the chance of getting those things! I know I’ve been a bad girl during the holiday. When I reached home after the holiday, I felt guilty looking at my new stuffs :( But anyway I enjoyed my holiday so much and now I should work hard to pay off those shopping damages LOL :D

Suqqu

This is Suqqu counter in Selfridges Manchester. I didn’t take more pictures as I was too excited to look for products here. I had fun swatching many products. There are many items that are not available there because I think it sold out pretty quickly.

Here are my Suqqu haul; 2 eyeshadow, 1 blush and 1 eyebrow palette.

Illamasqua

These pictures are also taken in Illamasqua counter in Selfridges Manchester.  The Illamasqua counter there is very happening with 3 SAs that have dramatic makeup and dresses! The thing that gets me most excited is to see their blushes. I have Illamasqua blush in Hussy and I love it to bits. I had fun swatching at the blush counter and decided to pick

I purchased three items from Illamasqua; a blush, an eye palette and a cream highlighter.

Chantecaille

I picked this Chantecaille Classic Palette in Harrods. This palette was on sale together with the Tiger in the Wild palette. Chantecaille products pricing are so expensive even after the price reduction. I paid (£50 or £75, can’t remember exactly). Honestly I bought this only because I want to collect a product from a brand that I have never had before. I will do a review about this palette soon (I hope :) )

Drugstore Haul from Boots & Superdrug

I had fun in both Superdrugs and Boots mostly in between Christmas – New year because they are having generous promotions. I bought quite a number of products there as they are having a “Buy 2 get 3″ promotions and I will get a free goodie bag when I buy 5 products or more. Gosh I could not control myself and bought there things with me. I know I am a bad girl when it comes to shopping but I’ll give myself an excuse since this is a year end holiday :p

Real Technique Brushes

Sleek Eye and Blush Palettes

Miscellaneous brands – Maybelline Color Tattoo, Revlon Lipstain, Max Factor lipfinity, Loreal Eyeshadow, Rimmel Eyeliner, etc.

Model’s Own and Barry M are one of those brands that excites me the most in Boots and Superdrug. Their glittery nail polishes are to die for! Barry M nail polishes were about £3-£5 each and Model’s Own were about £5 each.

That’s all I have for you :)

I have many things to be reviewed and please be patient with me LOL.

Thank you for reading.
