Tom Ford Spring 2015 Swatches and EOTD of Raw Jade

IMG_4897 IMG_4901

If there’s a brand that always makes me excited over their launches, Tom Ford is definitely one of them! For Spring 2015, Tom Ford has launched some rather unusual colors. The brand focuses on bold eyeshades rather than the usual pastels shades that we would see in most brands.

Tom Ford has three limited edition eye color duos for this Spring;

  • Raw Jade
  • Crushed Indigo
  • Ripe Plum

Each palette would consist of two shades; an opaline shade that’s created uniquely for each palette and a darker metallic shade. Raw Jade is a khaki green and paired with a mint shimmery finish. Crushed Indigo is a combination of dark blue with shimmer and a metallic lavender shade. Ripe Plum is a combination between dark brown and a light metallic pink.

Without any doubt, Tom Ford eyeshadow delivers excellent pigmentation quality. This can be seen from my swatches above. It’s very easy to get the colors pop – no need too much layering. The eyeshadows can also be worn dry and wet. I’ve the swatches below for both wet and dry. When it is swatched wet, the metallic shades pops better than when it is swatched dry.

I’ve tried both wet and dry application to my eyelids; and for the sake of efficiency, I would prefer to wear it dry.

Here’s some closer look of Raw Jade when it is swatched both dry and wet over indirect sunlight.

For this spring collection, Tom Ford also released two new mascaras, Teal Intense and Black Plum.

“Tom Ford’s mascara has specially designed brush, full and dense, allows lash filling powders in a creamy formula to last throughout the day without clumping or crumbling, amplifying the eyes’ dramatic impact”

I’ve got Teal Intense to match with my Raw Jade, and so far this is one of the mascara that doesn’t smudge on me! Thumbs up!

Alongside with this collection, Tom Ford also releases 4 Lip Shines that which will be out earlier than the rest of the collection. This will arrive in February in Singapore.

In the EOTD below, I am using a green pencil eyeliner and smudge it out. I also used a primer under neath to make sure that the color stays longer. Then I applied the deep green shade on my outer corner and build the colors by layering. I applied the metallic mint green shade on my inner corner to accentuate the look. As you can see, when both colors are layered together, it creates a new shade of green – it comes out as a lovely mid metallic green.

Other than the excellent pigmentation, another thing that impressed me the most is the staying power. This eyeshadow stays perfectly for at least 6 hours with me. I did notice the color fades a little by the 9th hour, but it is totally forgivable as I was spending my time outdoor most of the time on that day.

Chanel Reverie Parisienne for Spring 2015 – Tisse Fantasie & Blush Camelia Rose

IMG_4602

Hi lovelies!!

Today I decided to post my thoughts on Chanel Spring 2015 – Reverie Parisienne. I am sure many of you would have read the reviews and looked at the products in real life, but let me share my excitement and to show how happy I am to be able to purchase these 🙂

IMG_4600

Firstly I picked Chanel Jardin de Chanel Blush Camelia Rose. This blush caught my attention at the first sight. Just look at how pretty the sculpting of the camelia in the pan, I simply can’t resist getting this and make it part of my collection.

There are two pink tones in this blush; one is darker and the other is lighter. The swatch below was taken at home with indirect sunlight, with the darker shade on the left side and the lighter shade in the middle. The shade on the right side the shade when both shades are mixed. I detect a very very slight shimmer in it but it was not captured very well in this picture.

Another item that I picked unexpectedly during my trip to Chanel store is this Les 4 Ombres in Tisse Fantasie. I didn’t plan to get any les 4 ombres but the light khaki shade is simply pretty that I just had to caved in.

IMG_4599

Chanel les 4 Ombres in Tisse Fantasie turns out lovely when it is swatched on my arms. I really like how it glides on softly on my arms and the colors shows up nicely. The pigmentation was decent for all these shades, it’s not overly pigmented nor too sheer.

  • Top left – Coral shade with satiny finish
  • Top Right – a shimmery white shade. It’s a little too white for me that I have to think of how to work on this color on my eyes without destroying the whole look on me.
  • Bottom Left – a shimmery khaki green with golden shimmer. This one gotta be my favorite shade from the palette for its beautiful shimmers and versatility.
  • Bottom right – a dark brown with slight red tone and golden shimmers.

IMG_4598

Overall I think the quality of Tisse Fantasie is quite balanced, the pigmentation comes up nicely on my eye lid. I didn’t experience any fallout for most colors but for the khaki shade, I did see some fallouts. Below is my FOTD look with Tisse Fantasie and Chanel Camelia Blush.

Shu Uemura Holiday 2014 Collection x Karl Lagerfeld – Shupette

Here we are coming into the last quarter of the year. I can’t believe time flies just like that and Christmas collection has started to flow in. This year, Shu Uemura launches a holiday collection together with Karl Lagerfeld with a Shupette theme. Shupette is the snow white long haired pussycat princess created for this collection.

The collection consists of many items, but in this post I’ll focus on few items as photographed below.

IMG_9965

Now let’s start with the star of the collection, Shupette has it all Lip & Eye Palette.

This palette won my eye sight for the cute shupette print at the front. It’s made of mirroring metal and it also comes with a fury white pouch. The fury white pouch makes a good compliment for this palette – it fits perfectly and matches the theme.

IMG_9967 IMG_9966

Shupette has it all Lip & Eye Palette consists of 8 eyeshadow shades and 6 lip shades.

Here are the eyeshadow shades in the palette (starting from top left)

E1: is a black

E2: this shade is described as dark grey but on my swatch below, I can see that there’s a mixture or grey and violet shade.

E3: burgundy brown with some silver shimmers

E4: described as Toffee shade –

E5: this shade is called as shupette blue – it’s a light cloudy blue with metallic sheen.

E6: described as cool grey, looks like white to me and it also has a metallic sheen finish

E7: rosy shade with metallic finish

E8: light beige champagne with metallic finish

L1:Lip bonbon magenta

L3: Lip bonbon violet

L4: Lip bonbon pale pink

L8: Lip bonbon salmon pink

L5: Lip bonbon deep red

L2:Lip bonbon baby pink

I must say that the quality of these eyeshadows varies. Some shade performs much better than the other shades. Shade E1, E2 and E3 are smoother and pigmented than other shades. Some of the other shades are just quite dry although the colors are very pretty.

Marc Jacobs Eyeshadow in Starlet

IMG_9585.jpg

Neutral eyeshadow always attracts me no matter how many similar shades I have in my stash. Marc Jacob Style Eyecon in Starlet consists of 7 shades leaning towards neutral shades. Some shades are leaning towards grey tone and some are leaning towards nude shades. In this post, I am going to do a quick review of this eyeshadow palette. Scroll down to see more 🙂

The description of the shades here is taken from Sephora site:

Eye shadows in metallic muted lilac

  • metallic champagne pink
  • metallic dark copper brown
  • metallic bright copper
  • metallic gold
  • metallic bluish silver
  • metallic gunmetal gray

The shades in this palette has shimmery and metallic finish. On my skintone, I would translate the shades into this:

  • The first shade from the left is  a light taupe shade with silver shimmers
  • champagne shade with silver shimmers
  • Espresso shade with golden shimmers
  • Orange Bronzy shade with silver shimmers
  • Green golden shade with silver shimmers
  • gunmetal silver with metallic finish
  • medium toned silver with metallic finish

All the shades here have great pigmentation. The shades pops out on the first swatch and the color glides on easily. The quality of the eyeshadow in this palette is lovely – all shades are buttery and smooth. Upon application, I can barely see any fallout. The swatch posted above is swatched on my bare arm, without any primer! I am very happy with the outcome of the shades. Comparing this palette to The Vamp , I would say that Starlet has more even consistency. The shades in Starlet has more consistent quality.

Final Thoughts:

For anyone who wish to try Marc Jacobs Style Eyecon, I would recommend The Starlet for its consistency. The shades are considered neutrals – these are easy to wear without being too nude or boring. I personally like metallic shade on my eye hence this palette is a yay for me.

Chanel Les 4 Ombres #232 Tissé Vénitien

IMG_9772

There has been many times that I am telling myself that I don’t need more eyeshadow in my stash. Then I went to Chanel counter and explored the eight new quads and neither I know that I would fall in love so much with the Tisse Venitien.

At first glance, the new Les Ombres eyeshadow looks like a normal baked Chanel eyeshadow which I don’t really like. But after touching it and try it on myself, I must say that I am impressed with the quality and formula. I decided to pick Tisse Venitien just because the smoky green and the sparkling silver is just too beautiful to resist.

IMG_9773

IMG_9775

Tisse Venitien emphasises on metallic green hues. Here are my description of the shades in the palette from top left.

  • Top Left: dark green with grey hues and also metallic silver
  • Top Right: soft pink with rose gold shimmers
  • Bottom Left: metallic khaki shade with silver shimmer
  • Bottom Right: dark gunmetal grey with green hue.

IMG_9776

IMG_9777

The quality of these eyeshadows are lovely. They are soft, buttery and very well pigmented. All the swatches above were only done in one swipe and the colors pops very nicely. Generally these eyeshadow is easy to apply as they are very smooth and easy to blend. During application, I feel that the metallic khaki has some fallouts – so I make sure that I apply the silver eyeshadow in tapping motion. The rest of the shades were fine – there was nothing much fallout that I experienced.

In the picture below, I used the metallic khaki shade as the base shade all over my lid. And then I applied dark green with grey hues on the outer corner and bring it out and blend it out. To accentuate the look, I add the gunmetal grey around my upper lid and lower lid and blend it.

IMG_9784

I think I have fell in love with the new Les Ombres. The texture and pigmentation is superb! I don’t think this would be my last palette 😉
