Neutral eyeshadow always attracts me no matter how many similar shades I have in my stash. Marc Jacob Style Eyecon in Starlet consists of 7 shades leaning towards neutral shades. Some shades are leaning towards grey tone and some are leaning towards nude shades. In this post, I am going to do a quick review of this eyeshadow palette. Scroll down to see more
Marc Jacob Style Eyecon packaging is made of black acrylic. It comes with a fabric pouch, no brush was given. The packaging is designed to be practical, no unnecessary frills included.
The description of the shades here is taken from Sephora site:
Eye shadows in metallic muted lilac
- metallic champagne pink
- metallic dark copper brown
- metallic bright copper
- metallic gold
- metallic bluish silver
- metallic gunmetal gray
The shades in this palette has shimmery and metallic finish. On my skintone, I would translate the shades into this:
- The first shade from the left is a light taupe shade with silver shimmers
- champagne shade with silver shimmers
- Espresso shade with golden shimmers
- Orange Bronzy shade with silver shimmers
- Green golden shade with silver shimmers
- gunmetal silver with metallic finish
- medium toned silver with metallic finish
All the shades here have great pigmentation. The shades pops out on the first swatch and the color glides on easily. The quality of the eyeshadow in this palette is lovely – all shades are buttery and smooth. Upon application, I can barely see any fallout. The swatch posted above is swatched on my bare arm, without any primer! I am very happy with the outcome of the shades. Comparing this palette to The Vamp , I would say that Starlet has more even consistency. The shades in Starlet has more consistent quality.
For anyone who wish to try Marc Jacobs Style Eyecon, I would recommend The Starlet for its consistency. The shades are considered neutrals – these are easy to wear without being too nude or boring. I personally like metallic shade on my eye hence this palette is a yay for me.

There has been many times that I am telling myself that I don’t need more eyeshadow in my stash. Then I went to Chanel counter and explored the eight new quads and neither I know that I would fall in love so much with the Tisse Venitien.
At first glance, the new Les Ombres eyeshadow looks like a normal baked Chanel eyeshadow which I don’t really like. But after touching it and try it on myself, I must say that I am impressed with the quality and formula. I decided to pick Tisse Venitien just because the smoky green and the sparkling silver is just too beautiful to resist.
Tisse Venitien emphasises on metallic green hues. Here are my description of the shades in the palette from top left.
- Top Left: dark green with grey hues and also metallic silver
- Top Right: soft pink with rose gold shimmers
- Bottom Left: metallic khaki shade with silver shimmer
- Bottom Right: dark gunmetal grey with green hue.
The quality of these eyeshadows are lovely. They are soft, buttery and very well pigmented. All the swatches above were only done in one swipe and the colors pops very nicely. Generally these eyeshadow is easy to apply as they are very smooth and easy to blend. During application, I feel that the metallic khaki has some fallouts – so I make sure that I apply the silver eyeshadow in tapping motion. The rest of the shades were fine – there was nothing much fallout that I experienced.
In the picture below, I used the metallic khaki shade as the base shade all over my lid. And then I applied dark green with grey hues on the outer corner and bring it out and blend it out. To accentuate the look, I add the gunmetal grey around my upper lid and lower lid and blend it.
I think I have fell in love with the new Les Ombres. The texture and pigmentation is superb! I don’t think this would be my last palette

This Summer, YSL is launching newly designed and reformulated eyeshadow palette Couture Palette. This range of eyeshadow is created to capture the essence of Yves Saint Laurent. The range consists of 11 shades – ranging from soft shades to colorful and bold shades to play with. I have with me no 7 Parisienne to show you, hope you enjoy this post
The packaging of YSL Couture Palette is the same as the previous eyeshadow palette – encased in luxurious gold casing with the iconic YSL logo. The colors presented in Parisienne is inspired by the twilight of parisian apartment. The colors in this palette are exceptionally girly in a captivating way.
The shades in this palette are very girly, sweet and the colors are easy to wear. The shades are shimmery but without giving any over shimmery look. The shades in this palette are mostly sheer, not too pigmented. It’s such an easy to use palette without having to worry that you’re applying too much products
- The base color is a light taupe shade with shimmers
- Highlight shade is the frosty soft pink – I recommend to dab your brush lightly into this shade as dabing into it too hard will create a too frosty finish
- Shade 1 is a brown – purple shade, this shade has less shimmer and it is less frosty compared to the other shades
- Shade 2 is a light plum shade with shimmer
- Shade 3 is a shimmery pink, at some lighting it looks a bit lilac to me.
Swatches according to the shades: B – H – 2 – 3 – 1
The shades in this palette could never go wrong. My personal favorite shade has got to be shade 3. It’s such a sweet and natural shade without being boring. I love how this shade brightens my overall look without making me looking washed out.
Although most of the time I would opt for a more pigmented shades, I would say this is one of the sheer palette that has won my heart. Wearing the shades are not a chore at all, not to mention that there’s no fall out at all. I applied the shades using eyeshadow brush and the eyeshadow sets easily and stays for a good 5 hours with no signs of fading.
I did a simple look with Parisienne. Please pardon the eyeliner on my eyelid, I wasn’t being patient to wait for my liquid liner to dry
If you have not checked this range yet, you should! The range of colors are beautiful and pretty wide, so there should be one that catches your attention

Chanel has released its Reflets d’Ete de Chanel Summer 2014 collection worldwide. In this collection, there are three illusion d’ombres being released for the collections; they are mirage, utopia and new moon. I picked up Utopia and New Moon as they’re limited editions; Mirage is a beautiful shade too but I decided to wait.
Initially Utopia did not really catch my attention when I saw the promo picture. But once I visited Chanel counter and swatching it, there’s no turning back. It’s a sparkly lilac shade with medium intensity of color. It’s a sparkly shade which I will use as a base or an eyeshadow on its own. I don’t think I have any similar shade of illusion d’Ombres that looks like Utopia.
New Moon is a gorgeous sparkly bronze combined with purple. I seriously think that I don’t need more browns or bronze eyeshadow shade, but after looking at the beautiful sparkles, how could I ever resist such beautiful limited edition shade?
As some of you may know, Chanel Illusion d’Ombres range is one of my favorite product ranges all the time. I love how soft and bouncy the texture is. Not to mention the beautiful sparkles that Chanel never fails to bring. Utopia and New Moon have once again won my heart.
This is how Utopia and New Moon look on my eye. I like both shades – Utopia, with its shimmering lilac shade instantly brightens my eye look. New Moon on the other hand, creates more noticeable eye make up look because of the intensity of the shade itself.
Have you picked anything up from the collection?

Let’s talk about these new items on my stash which I purchased from Sephora. Jacqueline from MyBeautyHoard has been telling me how much she loves this product and I have seen a lot of swatches of these on her blog.
I picked up Rosegold and Amethyst to try for the first time.
Caviar Stick Eye Color comes in a very handy size; as the name suggest, it comes in a stick form and you can get the product by twisting the pen.
Laura Mercier comes in a buttery and soft texture. I love how the product just glides on my skin and shows the color in just one swipe. It doesn’t take too much effort to blend the color nicely – I usually use my finger or my eyeshadow blending brush like Tom Ford #13 Eyeshadow Blend Brush or MAC 217 to blend the colors evenly all over my lid.
I picked up Rosegold and Amethyst.
Rosegold is a soft gold tone with a pink undertone which is very nice to be used as a eyeshadow base. I usually apply this eyeshadow as a base color on my work days and I am good to go. For a more defined look, I am using Rosegold as a base and I will top it up with powder eyeshadow.
Amethyst is a deep brown with a purple undertone in it. It has golden shimmer in it. I use this on the corner of my eye to create a subtle smokey look. I also use this as an eyeliner; I picked up a slanted eyeliner brush and pick up the product and draw it on my lash line.
What I love most about Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour is the long lasting and the creaseless finish. Many cream eyeshadow crease on me and fade after I finish my day, but Caviar Stick Eye Color stays perfectly for almost the whole day without creasing. After using this for the whole day and try to remove it, it requires no hard effort at all. I am using my eye make up remover and I cleanse my eye make up using one cotton pad.
Overall, I am liking this caviar sticks for the ease of application and for the long staying power. These are my first purchase and definitely won’t be my last.
