Chanel Vamp Attitude for Holiday 2015 Collections – Signe Particulier Eyeshadow Palette

It’s time of the year again when Chanel releases the beautiful holiday collections! When I stepped into Chanel Beauty ION Boutique, It was hard to limit myself to not buy many many things from the collection. And finally here I am with my two items purchased from the Holiday Collections 2015 – Vamp Attitude. I picked Signe Particulier Eyeshadow Quad and Gold Sparkle Nail Coats.

Let’s talk about Chanel Signe Particulier,

this palette reminds me of Harmonie du Soir (click for review!) and Topkapi. All these 3 palette have similarities in color and the beautiful embossing reminds me of how close they are.

On the colors here:

Top Left: a velvety soft pink with silver shimmers

Top Right: Satin taupe with a hint of grey

Bottom Right: golden metallic shade

Bottom Left: a deep plum shade with matte finish

On the formulation of the colors, I have to say that this is not Chanel’s best formula. Out of 4 colors here, I find that the gold shade has better pigmentation compared to the other two. The taupe and the highlighter shade is somewhat dry and is lacking pigmentation. I like how the gold turned out on my eyes, it’s not as sparkling as I thought it would be, and the gold is very wearable.

Onto the look of this palette, my lovely friend and cousin (@yreginamakeup) did this look for me with this palette.

It’s rather hard to create a smokey eye look with this palette. The plum shade does not really pops out on my eyes and we had to layer the shade many times to get the color intensity we wanted.

Well in conclusion, I would say that Signe Particulier may not have the best quality compared to other Chanel quads. The shades may look beautiful inside the pan but the color intensity is rather disappointing this time. Fallout seems to be fine on my case, I didn’t see much falllout during the application. But if you’re a make up collector, this piece is certainly hard to miss! The beautiful embossed interlocked Chanel logo makes it almost impossible to miss this.

Shu Uemura x Maison Kitsune for Holiday 2015

You know we are nearing to the end of the year when beauty brands have started releasing the holiday collections. One of the brands that always catches my attention is Shu Uemura; every holiday seasons, Shu Uemura never fails to surprise me with the exciting collaboration. This year they have made another exciting collaboration with French designer Maison Kitsune.

The collection gives me a fresh spring vibes rather than Christmas’ party vibes. It’s interesting to see a brand releasing something rather unusual compared to other brands in the market. In this collection I am looking at lovely combination between pastel shades and deeper shades, and nothing too bold for me to wear.

In this blogpost, I have the Beauty Remix Smokey Eye & Cheek Palette in Plum.

A fun palette to play around and create an unusual smokey eyes. The palette has a mixture of plummy shade and orange-y shades. The colors are fun to create a young energetic look! In general, the shades has good texture especially the pearl texture. I found some fallouts especially on the glittery shades though, so I try to be more careful when applying the glittery shades.

The blush is a major surprise for me! It looks rather scary in the pan (screams: ORANGE!) but surprisingly it looks very wearable on my cheek. It looks peachy on my cheek and can also be worn as a contour cum blush to me.

Now onto the Drawing Pencil, here I have the plum and indigo. I love the color payoff of these two and how these are able to last on my lash line for a good 6 hours without smudging! The special Maison Kitsune design on the pencil is adorable too, I love the golden stamps details there.

The Laque Sparkler is one of the winner in this collection! I love how beautiful the color is and how opaque the color is on my lip. It takes me about two layers to get full opacity on my lip. Here I have the shade Plum Shimmer – a deep pink that leans towards red. It’s non drying on my lips and I like that I don’t need to retouch the color even after plenty glasses of water. It stains on my lip for a while, so at the end of the day I would clean my lip with lip make up remover.

a Shu Uemura collection wouldn’t be complete without the cleansing oil. In Maison Kitsune x Shu Uemura collection, the clensing oil released is from the Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil. By far this is my favorite cleansing oil! I’ve been using this range for a few years and Ultime8 range still secures a top spot in my heart. The oil is rich and it’s ultra moisturising, my skin feels well hydrated after my cleansing regime with Ultime8 range.

I have created a look using the Beauty Remix Palette in Plum and I am wearing Laque Sparkler in Plum Shimmer below

The collections is now widely available in all Shu Uemura boutiques and counter in Singapore

Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Crushed Indigo

Having reviewed Raw Jade and showcasing other Tom Ford Spring 2015 collection in my previous blogpost (click here for the post), I am glad to show you the swatch and my quick review of Tom Ford Eye Color Duo in Crushed Indigo. Thanks to Linda from Silverkis for being so kind to lend me her eyeshadow duo for me to try :)

Tom Ford Crushed Indigo looks kind of mundane to me in the pan, but don’t let your eyes fool you! Once I have it swatched on my arms, I knew this is not an ordinary blue, it’s a very lovely indigo blue paired with the opaline shade that lifts up my eyelid and makes my eye looks bigger instantly.

Just like the other Tom Ford eyeshadow duo which I have reviewed, This duo can be worn wet and dry. When it is applied wet, the color intensity looks better. You can see the shimmer more clearly when it is swatched wet.

Comparing Raw Jade and Crushed Indigo, I would say that the quality of Raw Jade seems to be more consistent. Raw Jade seems to have less fallout compared to Crushed Indigo. While Crushed Indigo does not fail my expectation, Raw Jade seems to deliver better quality and it stays for a longer hour compared to Raw Jade. I have no complain over the pigmentation, Crushed Indigo has excellent pigmentation and the color pops very nicely on the first swatch. Moreover, Crushed Indigo is one of the blue that I find very flattering on my skintone.

This duo will be retailing at SGD 85 in Singapore.

GUERLAIN Écrin 4 Couleurs in Les Precieux for Spring 2015

It’s so wonderful to see non pink eyeshadow shades this Spring. Many brands have released bolder shades for Spring 2015, and although Les Precieux is not the boldest among them all, the colors are not too girly for my liking yet not too bold for a daily shades. Between the two palettes Guerlain released for Spring 2015 Les Tendres, I didn’t think for long to pick this one compared to Les Nuées as the deep green caught my immediate attention.

The colors in this palette are:

#1: a deep green with shimmers. The pigmentation of this color is good, the color shows on the first swatch. What I love most about this green is that the color payoff is lovely, and the shimmer is not too much.

#2: a sheer pale pink with frosty finish. This shade is not my favorite in this palette as it doesn’t suit my skintone to use it as a base color nor as a highlighter.

#3: a pale ivory shade with heavy shimmers.

#4: bronzy shade with shimmers. This is a gorgeous bronze that will be wearable on most skin tones.

How do I like this eyeshadow palette?

The shades in this eyeshadow palette has inconsistent quality. I would say so because although the green and the bronze applies smoothly, I find that the pale pink and the ivory shade has some fallouts. In terms of lasting power, I shall say that this are good for about 7 hours with primers. The color stays put and does not crease within 7 hours. As for the color combination in the palette, I must say that this palette leans more towards daily use or elegant look. I am still playing and experimenting on how to create a more fun look with this palette. Nevertheless, I think this palette is worth a try if you’re a sucker for deep greens like me.

Below is a simple look I did with this eyeshadow palette. For this look, I use the bronze as the base color and blend it all over my eyelid. To create a more in depth look, I added the deep green shade on my outer corner and above my eyelid very softly. For my inner corner, I used a pointy eye brush to apply the pale ivory shade. And for the last touch, I applied the sheer pink shade nearer to my eyebrow and use it as a highlighter.

YSL Ombres de Jour Couture Palette

I am still in the mood of exploring Spring items collection as they offers bright and wearable colors. However I notice that this Spring season, there are many brands that have launched their Spring collection with a twist. I personally think that YSL Palette Ombres De Jour is somewhat the colors I would expect from a Spring collection but with a little bold approach.

IMG_4973 IMG_4974

Palette Ombres du Jour comes in a beautiful pink glittery packaging. The eyeshadow format & texture follows the latest couture formula which was launch last year. The eyeshadows are generally smooth and have silky texture. Pigmentation is nice with most colors pops on the first swatch except the pink one. I find that the pink is a little bit sheerer than the other shades.

Top Left: Light taupe with no glitters/shimmers, leaning towards satiny finish

Top Right: Milky white with shimmers

Bottom Left: Medium brown with gold shimmers

Bottom Right: Light frosty pink

Middle: Matte black with pink glitters

I would say that generally the shades in this palette has good quality – they’re soft, smooth and buttery. However I faced some problems when I applied the black shade. I noticed some fallouts although I have used some primers. And the black shade is not as smooth as the rest of the shades too.

This is a look I did with this palette. I applied the light taupe all over my lid. Then I apply the pink shade on my 3/4 on my lid – I kept layering the shades to create a more popping pink. With a pointed brush, I applied the black shade starting from my outer corner (near the lash line) and blend the colors up. After blending, I re-added the colors until I get the look I desired.

Overall, YSL Ombres de Jour Couture Palette is an interesting palette where it showcase the beauty of spring shades without making it look too boring. I love that YSL added a matte black with pink glitters – it makes this palette a lovely spring palette to me. Generally the textures are fine – buttery and silky smooth and it has decent pigmentation too. Packaging is certainly one of the reason why I bought this product – just look at how pretty is that glittery casing! I would say that this palette is not a must have – but if you’ve been collecting YSL Limited Edition make up, this is one that you don’t want to miss! :)
