Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet in 20 Beige

Chanel PERFECTION LUMIÈRE VELVET is a lightweight second-skin foundation. It naturally smoothes and evens out the complexion for a velvety matte makeup result.

The lightweight texture of PERFECTION LUMIÈRE VELVET makes it perfect for normal and combination to oily skin. This ultra-soft emulsion instantly becomes one with the skin, transforming into a natural powdery matte finish that disappears onto the skin.
• The Perfect Skin Affinity complex acts in perfect affinity with the skin to maintain hold and radiance all day long.
• The “smooth-effect” powders selected by the CHANEL Laboratories diminish surface irregularities and instantly smooth pores.
• The patented* Perfect Light Control complex (combination of two semi-sheer hemispherical powders) perfectly evens out dark spots and lightens redness, without a hint of thickness.

Available in 6 shades. I always recommend anyone to try it before purchase and consult with the BA to get the right shade, mine is 20 Beige.

I didn’t have a wide range of foundations, I only bought or tried them after I read good reviews from other beauty bloggers. I read couples of good review about this foundation and decided to visit Chanel counter which I am sure that I will come home with it. In this post I will compare Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet with all my foundations. But overall it has a matte finish and very light texture.

Chanel2

In terms of packaging, I love how light it is and very travel handy. Though I like the convenience from the pump in my other foundations, I think light and compact packaging are far more important than pump.

chanel4

chanel5b

In terms of texture shown in picture above, its a bit runny and not as thick as Shu Uemura or Chanel PL.

Last but not least. Face with Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet under indoor lighting and outdoor lighting.

Chanel8

Hope the short thought about this foundation helps! I completely love this foundation because its light texture and have enough coverage for day to day activities. Or else layer a bit more if you want more coverage. Another good thing about this foundation is; it does not result in oily face even after all-day activities and I am not a kind of person who do touch up or apply more powder during the day.

But as I always mention give it a try first in person. I always ask the BA to try it on my face before buying foundation. You do not want base product that doesn’t suit you.

Kiehl’s Micro Blur Skin Perfector

Hi ladies!  Today I am going to share something from Kiehl’s. This is one of Kiehl’s new release product – it’s Micro Blur Skin Perfector. So what does this product do? Basically it claims that provides both an immediate blurring effect to visibly transform the look of skin in seconds, and an improvement of pores and skin texture over time.

I have to admit that overall I am happy and thankful for my skin condition. However pores have been a concern to me too. My pores on my nose area doesn’t look good and I am constantly looking for product that will help me to improve my pore conditions. IMG_9458.jpg

Kiehl’s Micro Blur contains light reflectors to visibly transform skin, creating a smooth, pristine complexion. With Lipo Hydroxy Acid (LHA) and lentil extract, this skin care formula also provides long-term results, helping to refine skin texture, diminish lines, and reduce the appearance of pores when used daily.
The main ingredient in this products are:

  • Lipo Hydroxy Acid (LHA): An ingredient known to provide gentle exfoliation; used in this formula to leave skin radiant and smoother.
  • Lentil Extract: Helps to strengthen and tighten pores when used in the formula, providing a nearly poreless appearance over time.
  • Bark Extract: From the Guyana-native Bootlace Tree (Eperua Falcata), helps to smooth texture of the skin.

I have tested this product on the back of my hand to show the result of this product.
Swatch and Review
The picture below here is my naked hand. I did not apply anything here. You can see some visible pores there.
IMG_9463.jpg
The picture below is the back of my hand after I applied Micro Blur Skin perfector.
IMG_9465.jpg
As you can see in the picture above, this product gives instant result. My pores are blurred immediately and my skin looks so much smoother compared to the picture above. When I touch my skin, it feels smooth and it does not feel heavy at all. The product feels light weight and there’s no sticky feeling when this product was applied onto my face.
The product claims to improve skin texture by reducing the appearance of pores after 4 weeks. I have not tried this product for 4 weeks and have not seen any improvement on my pores condition. But I can definitely feel that this product gives instant result – it makes blurs my pores appearance immediately.
I use this product as a make up base after I apply my sun screen. Then after applying Micro Blur Skin Perfector, I apply Kiehl’s BB Cream or any other bb cream I wish to use on that day. It’s easier to apply BB Cream or any other foundation after I apply Micro Blur Skin Perfector as I don’t need to focus so much on covering my pores.
I also use this product when I do my touch up. After 6-7 hours when I see that my foundation/bb cream starts to fade, I will dab a tiny amount of Micro Blur Skin Perfector and apply it onto my nose area. In this way, my make up looks more natural and it covers little imperfection I have during the day.
Micro-Blur Skin Perfector will be available only in May 2014 island wide and it is retailing at $52 for 30ml of product

Review

I received these products last week and I have been trying this product for about 9 days and here’s what I feel so far:

Packaging:

YSL CC Cream Youth Liberator is packaged in a long sleek squeezable tube. The product contains 40 ml of product. The design is simple and light.

Texture & Finish

YSL CC Cream Forever Light Creator is very light in texture. The texture is so light that I don’t really feel that I am wearing foundation. The coverage is light but it manages to cover my pores. These days I applied 2 layers of YSL CC cream on my face to give me the kind of coverage I want. It gives a healthy glow  to your complexion; natural coverage and it evens out my skintone.

Shades:

YSL CC Cream Forever Light Creator comes in 3 shades: Rose, Apricot and Lavender. The description below is taken from YSL CC Cream press release information:

  • Rose : To give the complexion a fresh and rosy halo
  • Apricot : To recreate the golden radiance of a beautiful skin
  • Lavender: to give a natural skin looking radiance

Here’s the swatch of both shades. Rose is a beige shade with pink under tone and Apricot is more tinted and it looks more golden.

Here I have taken pictures of me wearing different shades on a different day:

Here’s how shade “rose” looks on me

IMG_9264.jpg

Rose is a beautiful shade which brightens my skin. The product delivers the promise to give a complexion a fresh and rosy halo. I can see the rosy glow it has on me, However I do feel that this shade is a bit too light for me. The shade still matches my neck well, but once I compare with my arm, I can spot the difference and it kinda looks unnatural anymore.

And here’s how Apricot looks on me

IMG_9278.jpg

At first, Apricot looks a bit too dark on my skin tone. But after applying it onto my face and blends it out evenly, I find that Apricot suits my skintone better. It is certainly not brightening, but it evens out my skin tone and makes my skin looks healthy.

Mixed: Apricot & Rose

IMG_9312.jpg.jpg

IMG_9307.jpg.jpg

After trying out rose and apricot on their own, I decided to try and mix the two together. The amount of Apricot I applied is 2/3 and rose is 1/3 and I mix them together. The shades comes out to be very nice and it suits my skin tone perfectly. I can see how Apricot complement my skin tone and covers my redness and pores. At the same time, shade rose does its job by giving me that beautiful glow that I love a lot. Other than using it as a base product, I was also using shade rose as a highlighter. Rose is lighter than my actual skin tone, in the picture above I applied it on my under eye area. As a result, my face looks fresh and healthy 🙂

Here’s the amount of Rose and Apricot I use for my 3rd look

YSL CC Cream Forever Light Creator is going to be available in March and will be retailing at $79

Shu Uemura The Lightbulb fluid foundation

I didn’t even remember when was the last time I bought myself a foundation. Once I have one that I like, I will use it for quite some time. Anyway after seeing so many good reviews through Instagram, I finally decided to go to Shu Uemura counter and try it myself.

My latest foundation addition is Shu Uemura the lightbulb fluid foundation (27ml), retail in Australia for 65AUD and the sponge sold separately which I decided not to get it.

Shu1

when seeking higher coverage, natural glow tends to be lost… but, now, paradoxical benefits coexist thanks to shu uemura’s expertise in oil technology and an original carefully hand-finished sponge. tap the foundation with the sponge and discover

 – natural glow yet high coverage
– long-lasting moisture yet exquisite fit

 12h moisture, mineral pigments

the unprecedented combination of the lightbulb foundation and the all-new sponge empowers you to glow under any light.

allergy tested

– tested under dermatological control – suitable for all skin types including sensitive skin – non-comedogenic – tested on Asian women

**Information above taken from Shu Uemura Website**

Shu2

It comes with a pump which I thought very essential in a foundation for easy access. Below are all the liquid foundations that I have, not including compact foundations. Seeing my little collections, I feel like buying more foundations now. Any recommendation?

Shu8

For texture, I would say its quite thicker compare to GA & Chanel PL but not as thick as Chanel VA. I would also say this one is medium coverage.

Shu7

Lastly, my face with Shu Uemura lightbulb foundation and powder only. I agree it gives me a natural glow as they claimed it. However, I suggest to visit the counter and asked the MUA to try it on your face. That’s what I did before buying foundations 🙂

Overall, one of my favorite foundation at the moment beside Chanel PL.

Biore Whitening Sunscreen

IMG_5232

In Singapore’s hot and humid weather, sunscreen is a must have product for me everyday. Although most of the time I would be indoor, I always make sure that the skincare/make up I am using contains at least SPF 30. It’s important to protect your skin under the sun and make sure that the product has enough protection.

Now let’s talk about the texture of this product, Biore Whitening Sunscreen has a creamy texture but it’s not sticky. Generally I feel that Asian brands suncreen texture are lighter than western brands. Biore whitening sunscreen is lighter than most western sunscreen that I’ve tried. Like the name of the product, Biore whitening sunscreen gives me a whitening effect instantly. It works well as a make up base too. This product has a mild floral scent which I think it’s fine. The scent is not over pouring, it is just fine.

IMG_5234

IMG_5233

As you can see in the swatches below, Biore Whitening Sunscreen absorbs well into the skin. The whitening effect is noticeable on the picture. What I like about the whitening effect is that it doesn’t make my skin looks unnatural, but it actually makes it looks glowing and smooth.

PicMonkey Collage

In my previous post, I have reviewed Biore Aqua Rich Water Base SPF 50+ and I am really sold by it. If I were to compare Biore Whitening Sunscreen and Biore Aqua Rich Water Base SPF 50+, I’d say both are different. Biore Aqua Rich Water base is very light and it is non sticky at all. I am completely sold by its texture; however it doesn’t work as a make up base for me. Biore Whitening Sunscreen has a thicker consistency and it’s more creamy, however it works well as a make up base to even out your skintone.

Price: $18.90 at leading drugstores

Final Thought: Overall Biore Whitening Sunscreen is good a good product that provides enough protection under the hot sun. The texture is pleasant and it works well as a base too. For a good quality product, I think $18.90 is a good deal. This product is worth trying 🙂
